Nebraska Restaurant Throws Out Tiny Kitten With A Unique Nose Who Desperately Needs Help

kitten with bifid nose

Out of all the abandoned cats and kittens struggling to survive, one little orange-and-white kitten in Nebraska happened to be in the right place at the right time.

He had been spotted outside a restaurant, where he’d been cruelly kicked out and left to fend for himself. With no mother or siblings by his side, he was completely alone, vulnerable, and unsure where to turn.

But fate stepped in. As the tiny kitten wandered near the restaurant, a kind-hearted passerby noticed him and immediately realized he needed help. That moment of compassion would change his life forever.

The rescuer gently scooped up the kitten and quickly rushed him to safety. Remarkably, the kitten remained calm, as if he understood that this was the start of a new chapter in his life.

As he held the little one, the rescuer noticed something unusual – a distinct feature on the kitten’s nose. However, he decided to let the professionals conduct a thorough examination to

After hearing about the kitten in desperate need of help, Jennifer, the founder of Kitten Nuggets, immediately sprang into action.

She organized transportation and everything needed to ensure the kitten would reach her rescue safely.

Thankfully, the kitten, whom she named Arthur, made it to his foster home after a long journey. It was all worth it, as he was finally able to receive the care he so urgently needed.

First, he was provided with a litter box, delicious meals, toys, warm blankets, and other essentials to help him feel comfortable.

Arthur immediately loved his new home and foster mom. Jennifer shared in an interview:

“He was such a little love-bug right from the start.”

After the examination, it was discovered Arthur had a bifid nose, and he wobbled while walking, which wasn’t the best sign. Jennifer added:

“Arthur has a bifid nose, which is a midline defect (failure of the nose to fully fuse during development. He also exhibits neurological signs (ataxia, abnormal mentation).”

Despite his wobbliness and other challenges, Arthur is a brave little guy with a strong, loud voice who isn’t afraid to speak up and let everyone know what he wants.

He loves his new life at a foster home, but most of all, he loves food. Jennifer shared:

“He’s obsessed with meal times and screams for food. When he’s not screaming, he’s the purriest little purr box.”

Thanks to his voracious appetite, Arthur kept growing bigger and stronger, and soon needed a bigger room to play and zoom around.

Arthur received the care he needed, but his wobbliness remains. However, nothing holds him back. Every time he stumbles, he quickly picks himself up and gets back on his paws.

However, Jennifer didn’t want to leave anything to chance, so she took Arthur to different tests, to make sure he was alright or to find out how to help him. Jennifer shared:

“After monitoring a bit, he’s definitely not neurotypical. He has trouble with balance, and mentally he’s not quite normal.”

Due to Arthur’s condition, they had to prepare for more neurological consultations and costly diagnostics.

However, with the help of kind-hearted people and their generous donations, both Arthur and Jennifer were able to overcome these challenges.

Having the right diagnosis is crucial to receive proper therapy and treatment. But, for now, Arthur is doing good and so do his test results. Jennifer shared:

“The good news is that all of his diagnostics (labs, bile acids, x-rays, CSF tap, and MRI) came back negative. I sent his MRI to Dr. Vernau, a neurologist at UC Davis, and the only thing she could spot was a left-leaning deviation of his cerebellar vermis (the medial portion of the cerebellum that connects each hemisphere of the cerebellum).⁣ So for now, we have no real answers. I’m not overly concerned currently, but I will be watching for any change or progression of symptoms that may point to a degenerative disease (but I really hope this won’t happen)!⁣”

Though they didn’t have all the answers, Jennifer decided to keep Arthur and closely monitor his condition.

In the meantime, Arthur is living his best life – happier and more playful than ever. For the first time, he has someone who will care for him, and it’s made all the difference. If you want to keep up with Arthur’s story or even adopt some of Jennifer’s foster kitties, make sure you follow Kitten Nuggets for more.
