Wisconsin Woman Asks Her Service Dog To Find A Chair, What He Does Leaves Everyone Laughing

Some dogs have a natural way of bringing joy, even in the most serious moments. Scar, a blue merle Australian shepherd, is one of those pups.

He’s a fully trained service dog who helps his owner with medical alerts and mobility needs.

But in a funny TikTok clip, Scar shows that no matter how skilled a dog is, even the best boys can still get a little confused sometimes.

One day, while out shopping, Scar’s owner gave him a simple command: “Find me a chair.” As a hardworking service dog, Scar was thrilled to get a task.

His tail wagged, his focus locked in, and he proudly trotted off to do exactly what he was trained to do.

A moment later, he stopped, looked back at his owner with bright eyes, and placed his paw on the seat of a tiny purple chair – the kind meant for toddlers, not adults.

The moment was caught on video and shared on TikTok by @scarthesportyservicedog. The caption joked:

“…only one cheek will fit on that.”

In the clip, Scar stands proudly beside the miniature chair, tail wagging and face beaming as if to say, “See? I nailed it.”

His owner couldn’t help but laugh. She shared in an interview:

“I was very surprised and laughed pretty hard. He has not done that before.”

The wholesome mix-up quickly took off online, racking up more than 89,900 views and 13,700 likes. The comments section became a celebration of Scar’s adorableness and confidence. One user wrote:

“I love the direct eye contact with the ‘chair’ taps.”

Another added:

“At least we know he knows what a chair is lol.”

One person wrote”

“Oh my God, he’s so proud that he found you a chair.”

And honestly, who could blame him? He technically did exactly what was asked. The only issue? Location, location, location.

His owner has since learned a valuable lesson – maybe don’t give commands like that while wandering through the kids’ section.

Experts say dogs like Scar, especially retrievers and shepherd breeds, are incredibly intelligent and often take commands literally.

According to animal behavior specialist Susan Nilson, dogs trained for mobility and medical alert work are conditioned to interpret cues precisely. So when Scar heard “find a chair,” that’s exactly what he did – no details excluded.

Beyond the laughter, Scar’s moment reminds people that even service dogs, with all their training and professionalism, still have charming personalities and a playful side.

It’s part of what makes the bond between dogs and humans so special. They might make mistakes now and then, but they’ll do it with the purest heart and the happiest tail wag imaginable.

Scar may not have found the most practical chair that day, but he definitely found something better –  millions of smiles and a place in everyone’s heart.
