Security Camera In Arizona Films Heartbroken Dog Running After Car That Had Just Abandoned Him
Owning a pet is a long-term commitment that requires serious consideration before taking the leap. Sadly, today, pets are often acquired without much thought, and many end up abandoned on the streets.
Such was the fate of a dog named Benji. In Arizona, security cameras caught the tragic moment when he was tossed out of a car and left to fend for himself.
Benji was completely unaware of what was going on. After being thrown out of the car and left behind, he couldn’t comprehend what was happening. Perhaps he thought his family was simply playing a game with him.
Even though he was confused, Benji didn’t give up. He tried to chase after the car that had abandoned him, running until his little legs couldn’t carry him any further.
His family heartlessly drove away, leaving him behind as if he meant nothing to them. Watch the video to see how it unfolded: they opened the door, coldly said “Bye-bye!” and drove off.

Fortunately, just as Benji was left stranded, fate stepped in with a chance for a better future. A Good Samaritan noticed the abandoned pup and immediately recognized that he needed help.
With kindness, the person carefully picked him up and took him to the Surprise Police Department, where the staff greeted him with warmth and compassion.
Despite the trauma he’d endured, Benji remained a sweet and affectionate dog, quickly winning over everyone at the police department.
Sergeant Rick Hernandez, public information officer for the Surprise Police Department, shared in an interview:
“He immediately gravitated towards men, women, and everybody in the departments. Lots of tail wags, lots of belly rubs, and lots of smiles from our staff.”
From there, Benji was taken to the Arizona Humane Society, where he was welcomed with open arms and offered a second chance at a better life.
From the moment Benji arrived at the shelter, the staff fell in love with him, and it seemed as though he had completely left his past behind. He quickly settled into his new environment, thriving with his human and animal friends.
Energetic, playful, and endlessly friendly, it was clear to the staff that Benji would be the perfect companion to his future owner.
In addition to the love and attention he received, Benji was vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered during his stay at the shelter.
The only thing left for him was finding a forever home – one that would be truly permanent.
Benji’s warm-hearted nature made it easy for him to connect with potential adopters. One officer from the Surprise Police Department, who couldn’t stop thinking about him, was so moved by his spirit that she ultimately decided to adopt him.
After all he had endured, 2-year-old Benji, the chihuahua, is now an official member of the Surprise Police Department family and living his best life. Hernandez shared
“We’re really going to allow Benji to dictate how he’s going to support not only our officers but our community.”
His new family is overjoyed to have him and looks forward to watching him grow, thrive, and continue to flourish.
Benji’s journey serves as a reminder that difficult moments can lead to something even more wonderful. That’s the way life works, so let’s embrace it and live fully, just like our little Benji.
