Man Sees A Strange Figure On A Snowy Sidewalk, And His Heart Drops When He Realizes What It Is
It’s not every day you come across something so unexpected that it completely takes your breath away. However, for Graham Adderley, one chilly day brought a moment that left him in disbelief.
As he went about his day, Graham saw a bald eagle plummeting to the ground. Above him, a flurry of birds were flying in circles, clearly freaked out by the scene unfolding below.
The whole thing happened so fast, and Graham’s heart raced as he watched the majestic eagle drop from the sky like a stone with no warning.
He quickly grabbed his phone to capture the unbelievable moment, sharing in the video:
“Oh my God. Look at this. Look at this eagle! I’ve never seen an eagle so stunned.”
Graham thought the eagle might have been chasing a pigeon or trying to escape from crows when he collided with a power line and hit the snowy ground with a heavy thud.
For a moment, everyone feared the worst, thinking the poor creature might have been electrocuted. With no time to waste, Graham and others quickly reached out for help.
As more people gathered around, the eagle tried to get his bearings, but his wings just weren’t working. He wobbled and stumbled into the street, crawling toward a nearby car to find cover below it.
Just when things were starting to feel chaotic, a volunteer from the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society showed up. They carefully scooped the eagle up in a net, making sure not to hurt him further.
The volunteer gently carried the eagle to safety, away from the busy street, ready to give him the care he needed.
At OWL, the rehab team got to work, trying to figure out the extent of the eagle’s injuries. His left wing drooped strangely, and they weren’t sure if it was from the fall or from an electric shock.
They knew it might take a few days to fully understand the damage, as they shared in a Facebook post:
“What we don’t yet know is if he received a jolt of electricity as well. At this time we are treating for a sore shoulder and trauma. Electrical injuries usually produce vascular damage which can take a few days to declare themselves.”
The team worked tirelessly, even sniffing the eagle’s wing to check for signs of burns. But there was no singed smell. It seemed like the eagle had only been stunned, but they had to be sure.
The next few days were all about hoping and taking good care of the bird, as they wrapped up his wing and waited to see how he’d do.
By the time an X-ray was done, it was clear the eagle had a shoulder injury, not the electric shock they feared.
As days went by, the majestic bird showed just how strong he was. Little by little, he started getting better. When they finally removed the bandages, it was clear he was on the road to recovery.
If everything continues to go well, the eagle should be fully recovered in about two to three months. Soon, he’ll be back where he belongs, soaring high above with two powerful, healthy wings.
