Woman Gets A ‘Bear-y’ Big Surprise From A Giant Furry Visitor On Her Porch In Massachusetts

One day, Monique Sheary was soaking up the calm morning at her home in Paxton, Massachusetts. But that calm didn’t last long.
Out of nowhere, an unexpected furry guest decided to drop by. He strolled right up to her front door like he’d been there before and knew exactly what he was doing.
And it wasn’t just any guest. It was a bear! Yep, a real bear. Big, fluffy, and full of curiosity.

With only the glass storm door separating them, Monique suddenly noticed a large shadow moving up her porch steps.
Her heart might’ve skipped a beat, but the moment wasn’t scary; it was more surreal. Monique later shared in an interview:
“I had opened my front door, so just the glass door was there. All of a sudden, I see this bear walk up the front steps of my porch.”
The bear stood up tall on his hind legs, almost like he was about to knock. But no, he had something much sweeter on his mind.
Turns out, this clever guy had caught the scent of something delicious…

Hanging right on the porch were Monique’s hummingbird feeders, filled with sweet nectar. And to this bear, that was basically nature’s candy bar.
So, he helped himself to the first feeder, sipping with so much focus it was almost polite. He took his time, moved on to the next one, and seemed to genuinely enjoy every drop.
Monique watched in awe, sharing:
“[He] gently started to drink from one of the feeders, then made his way to the other one. Such an awesome sight!”
She captured the adorable moment on camera. It was peaceful, kind of magical, just a wild creature having a quiet little treat.

After about five minutes, the bear seemed satisfied. He paused for a moment, glanced toward the window, and if bears could smile, he definitely looked like he was wearing one.
Then, without any fuss, he wandered off into the woods like he hadn’t just made Monique’s entire day.
Funny thing is, this wasn’t a one-time event. Monique says a bear drops by almost every year during their active season. Somehow, they always seem to know when the feeders are out.
That’s usually her cue to bring them in, not because she minds the visitors, but because, well, it’s meant for the birds, as Monique shared:
“That’s when I know it’s time to take the [bird feeders] down. We are not purposely trying to attract bears. We’re trying to feed birds.”

Even so, Monique doesn’t seem too bothered by the occasional detours. A few broken feeders here and there? Totally worth it in her eyes.
Her heart is all in when it comes to the local wildlife, and she feels lucky to live in a place where they still wander free.
To her, sharing space with nature, even when it strolls right up to her porch for a sugary snack, is something pretty special.
Honestly, I couldn’t agree more.
