When most people look for a new pet, senior animals aren’t usually their first choice because of their age and likely declining health.
However, one kind woman decided to give a senior cat a chance, and what happened next was far from what she imagined. Trust me when I tell you, you’re in for a treat!
In a TikTok video, user @shamabouf shared a heartwarming story of how she adopted an older cat who had been bullied at the shelter.
The younger cats would gang up on him, and she even witnessed one smack him during her visit. How cruel is that, right?
The cat didn’t fight back, and that’s when she knew he needed (and deserved!) a new, loving home.
The woman thought it would take some time for him to adjust to his new surroundings like most adopted pets do. But to her surprise, the two of them connected instantly, and he refused to leave her side.
Screenshots from her video show the senior cat constantly snuggling with his new forever human.
She has to hold him in a blanket all the time because he hates being put down. Whenever she tries to set him down, he protests, wanting to stay in her arms. The poor soul just craves love so much!
This isn’t the usual behavior for most cats, so she had to adjust her plans and carry him like a baby, wrapped in a blanket to keep him happy. As she wrote:
“I didn’t realize taking a chance on the elderly cat that was getting bullied at the shelter meant I was going to have to blanket-wear him every day because he hates being put down.”
The love and comfort he feels in her arms are evident. His paws hug her tightly as if he knows he’s finally safe and sound. It’s his way of showing gratitude and saying “thank you” to the woman for rescuing him. Her caption reads:
“Take a chance on an elderly cat!! He’s worth it, my little cutie coyote baby.”
The TikTok video quickly captured the hearts of viewers, racking up over 258,000 views and 58,000 likes. One TikTok user perfectly captured the sentiment, commenting:
“Older babies have so much love in them once they realize they are safe.”
Someone else chimed in:
“Oh my God, he knows he found his last home.”
And a third person added:
“He feels safe enough to let his inner baby out.”
All three comments capture the essence of the story, don’t you agree?
A Happy Ending For A Senior Cat
By taking a chance on this older, bullied cat, the woman not only changed Coyote’s life but also found a loyal companion who loves her deeply.
It just goes to show that, no matter their age, senior cats still have a lot of life left in them if only given a chance.
If you’re thinking of adopting, consider opening your heart to a senior animal, they have so much love to give, and you might just find your perfect match.
