Dog Found At Texas Rodeo With Tire Rim Stuck Around His Neck, Desperately Trying To Break Free
A call came in at Three Little Pitties Rescue in Texas about a dog near a busy rodeo, but it was clear this wasn’t just a lost pup.
The frightened dog was running in panic, a heavy metal tire rim tightly stuck around his neck, leaving him in obvious pain and unable to break free.
Every moment he remained out there put him in greater danger, and rescuers knew they had no time to waste.

The urgency in the caller’s voice told the rescue team everything they needed to know. They’d seen a lot over the years, but this situation was something else entirely.
Kelly Russel, a volunteer with TLP, shared in a YouTube video:
“They think he might have been chasing a squirrel or something and got his head stuck like that.”

As soon as they heard what was going on, the rescuers rushed to the scene, hoping they weren’t too late. And when they found him, their hearts sank.
He was completely alone, trembling, swollen, and terrified. His eyes were wide with fear, and the rim was cutting deep. Kelly recalled:
“His head was swollen, and I knew that if we didn’t get him to the vet very soon, that he might not make it.”

The rescuers sedated him to keep him calm, then rushed him straight to the clinic. At the vet’s office, he was wrapped in towels to try to comfort him.
He was so frightened, he wouldn’t let anyone get near him at first. And the rim? It wasn’t going anywhere. They tried everything they could, but it was completely stuck.
That’s when they called in backup.

The fire department showed up, and even they were taken aback. It wasn’t every day they saw something like this.
Using the jaws of life, they carefully worked on freeing the dog. It took a full hour of careful cutting and maneuvering.
And finally, it came off. The dog was free.

When he woke up, he looked a little dazed, almost as if he was trying to figure out why everything suddenly felt lighter. But he knew something had changed. He was safe now.
They named him Pickles because, well, he really got himself into one.
Over the next few days, Pickles slowly started to come alive. He moved in with his foster mom, Kelly, and that’s when the transformation truly began.

Being around other dogs brought out a whole new side of him. He wagged his tail, chased after toys, and melted into every belly rub. Kelly said:
“He had never been inside before. I would watch him light up around my other foster dogs. They just accepted him. It was like he was a puppy all over again.”
Pickles blossomed. The team even kept the chunk of tire rim they’d removed and signed it as a reminder of everything he’d been through and how far he’d come.

And the best part? Pickles found a forever home.
Now, he’s living his best life. His days are filled with love, snuggles, and the kind of peace every dog deserves.
The tire rim is long gone. So is the fear. All that’s left is a very good boy who got his second chance.
