A group of friends was wandering the empty city streets, joyful and relaxed after a fun night out. It was late in the night and the roads were lonely.
Their peaceful stroll down the lonely street was interrupted by a rather unsettling sound. Though not loud, it captured their attention…
It was a tiny desperate weep that echoed a helpless creature in distress. The group decided to follow the sound into the darkness.
Whatever they expected to find couldn’t prepare them for the heart-wrenching scene they were about to discover. Those tiny cries were coming from a disabled kitten begging for help.
The poor kitten crawled along the empty dark road, dragging its paralyzed back legs and desperately seeking help from a kind soul.
Luckily, people who stumbled upon the kitten were exactly that — kind-hearted animal lovers. Heartbroken by the saddening sight of a disabled kitten, they decided to take it home.
Without giving it much thought, they named him Henry, “charming and strong”. It felt as if the name had always belonged to him. His charm as well as his strength were truly undeniable.
Henry was immediately taken to the vet clinic for a thorough examination. The good news was that Henry didn’t have other health issues, besides his paralysis.
However, the bad news was that his disability was deemed non-curable, and therefore permanent.
Unshakable in their decision to take care of him, Henry’s rescuers weren’t discouraged by this prognosis. Henry was warmly embraced as a family member, with a pledge of unconditional love and care.
Surrounded by love and affection, Henry started exploring the new environment. His new family helped him through this adventurous journey. With every new day, he became stronger and more courageous.
Despite his disability, Henry now lives a fulfilling life. His family ensures Henry doesn’t feel left out and his disability doesn’t get in his way.
Henry may not have the life of an ordinary kitty, but it won’t prevent him from being happy.
