Pennsylvania Dog Named Ronaldo Becomes Incredible Soccer Goalkeeper And Wins Millions Of Hearts
Most dogs get excited when someone throws a tennis ball. Ronaldo has only one thing on his mind.
The moment anyone kicks a soccer ball, the tiny Chiweenie springs into action, launching himself through the air to block the shot like a professional goalkeeper.
What started as a family game has now turned him into an internet sensation, with millions of people cheering on his unbelievable saves.
At 6 years old, Ronaldo has earned a reputation his family proudly stands behind. They call him the “greatest goalkeeper on 4 legs.”
One of his videos, showing him making eight incredible saves in a row, has been viewed more than 14 million times on TikTok.
Fans around the world can’t seem to get enough of the fearless little dog who throws himself in front of every shot.
But according to Stephanie Craveiro Katzman, Ronaldo isn’t performing for the cameras. This is simply who he is, as she shared in an interview:
“Every time someone’s foot goes near a soccer ball, he springs into action, no matter what he’s doing, and runs straight to the ball. He really is always ready to play.”
Ronaldo lives with Candida Craveiro and her husband, Antonio, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, while Katzman and her husband, Sam, help film his videos and organize his goalkeeper training sessions.
His love for soccer started almost as soon as he joined the family years ago. With soccer always being played during family gatherings, balls were constantly rolling around the backyard.
Naturally, everyone assumed the puppy would chase after them like any other dog. Instead, Ronaldo had a different idea.
Rather than trying to score goals, he kept jumping in front of every shot. His family even bought him his own goal, hoping to teach him to score just like the soccer legend he was named after.
It didn’t take long to realize he had chosen a different position. Katzman recalled:
“At first we bought him a goal and tried to teach him to score on it like Cristiano Ronaldo, but he was much more interested in catching the ball with his mouth than kicking it. He showed us he preferred stopping shots and being a goalkeeper.”
Looking back, it almost seems inevitable. Soccer has always been a huge part of the Craveiro family’s life, especially when it comes to cheering for Portugal. Katzman explained:
“Our family eats, breathes and sleeps soccer, especially Portuguese soccer. Since we always are playing in the backyard and enjoy the game so much, [Ronaldo] just always had it around him and wanted to be a part of the fun.”
Now, Ronaldo plays with a soccer ball every single day, while his family films his training sessions about once a week.
Watching him in action, it’s easy to forget how small he is. He leaps high into the air, snatches balls with surprising precision, and somehow manages to stop shots that seem impossible for a dog his size.
To many viewers, it looks like years of training.
His family says the talent has been there from the beginning, as Katzman said:
“He also makes saves with a lot of style and swag. He looks like an acrobat sometimes when he jumps up and snags the ball whizzing at him. He was born with natural talent.”
Since the family started sharing Ronaldo’s highlights four years ago, his popularity has exploded across social media.
Today, he has more than 50,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, while his videos have been shared by major sports pages and watched by millions of soccer fans around the world.
Some familiar names have even noticed, as Katzman shared:
“iShowSpeed liked a video on TikTok, which was very exciting because he loves Cristiano Ronaldo as much as our family does. It was really cool when Brittany Wilson Isenhour liked one of our videos, because we have a lot of respect for her and what she does in the goalkeeper community.”
For Ronaldo, though, none of the online attention seems to matter.
As far as he’s concerned, every soccer ball rolling across the yard is another chance to make one more incredible save.
