If you’re a dog parent who loves giving your pup fresh, high-quality meals, here’s something you’ll definitely want to know.

A new pet food recall has just been announced, and while no one’s gotten sick yet, it’s worth taking a quick peek in your freezer, just to be safe.

Raw Bistro Pet Fare, a Minnesota-based company known for its raw, grass-fed recipes, has voluntarily recalled its frozen Grass-Fed Beef Entrée due to a possible Salmonella contamination.

The risk of contamination came to light when a sample taken by the FDA from a distributor tested positive for Salmonella.

What You Should Know

The recall includes 3-pound bags and 18-pound bulk cases, all from Lot 239, marked with a “Best By” date of August 27, 2026.

These products were sold between September 1 and September 17 in California, Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota.

Now, before you panic, take a deep breath. The good news is that there have been no reports of illness in pets or people so far.

Why It Matters

The recall is purely precautionary, but still, it’s something every pet owner should take seriously. Better safe than sorry, right?

Salmonella can be tricky. It doesn’t always show up right away, and when it does, it can make both dogs and humans feel pretty awful.

In dogs, you might notice vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, fever, or just that “off” feeling when they’re not quite themselves.

And yes, humans can get sick from it too, especially if you’ve handled the food and forgot to wash your hands afterward.

People can experience stomach cramps, nausea, or fever, and in rare cases, it can lead to more serious complications like joint pain or urinary tract issues.

Definitely not something you want to deal with.

Steps To Take If You Bought This Product

If your pup recently ate this food and you’ve noticed any of those signs, it’s best to give your vet a call, even if it’s just for peace of mind.

Or, if you find any of this recalled food at home, don’t feed it to your pup and don’t donate or share it, either.

The safest thing to do is throw it out securely or return it to where you bought it for a full refund. Afterward, give your dog’s bowls, mat, and feeding area a good scrub with soap and hot water.

It’s also smart to wash your hands and wipe down any kitchen surfaces that may have come into contact with it.

It’s always a bit unsettling to hear about recalls, especially when they involve something our furry family members enjoy so much. But the good thing here is that the issue was caught early, and everyone’s okay. That’s what really matters.

If you have questions or just want to double-check, you can contact the company directly at [email protected] or text (507) 291-3153 during business hours.

Hopefully, your pup’s dinner stash is safe and sound, but if you’re ever unsure, it’s always worth double-checking. After all, keeping those tails wagging is what matters most.

At the end of the day, recalls like this remind us just how important it is to stay informed and pay attention to what we feed our pets.

Mistakes happen, even with trusted brands, but being aware can make all the difference.

A few extra minutes of caution can help keep your furry friend happy, healthy, and ready for their next meal, tail wagging and all.
