Florida Rescuers In Shock After Discovering What’s Inside This Dog’s Body

Teddy’s journey wasn’t one of those cheerful, waggy-tailed beginnings, but oh, how far he’s come.
This big guy was found wandering in central Florida, tired and hurting, with a past that no dog should ever have to endure.
You’d never know it by the way he smiles now, but Teddy had nearly 100 BB pellets under his skin.
It’s heartbreaking to imagine what he went through. But thankfully, his story didn’t end there.

When animal services picked Teddy up, they immediately knew this wasn’t just any case.
He wasn’t strong enough to be put up for adoption, and they feared someone might treat him as just another outdoor dog. And that’s the last thing he needed.
What he needed was healing. And love. And someone to fight for him.
That someone turned out to be Rebecca Lynch from Poodle and Pooch Rescue in Orlando.

The moment she heard about Teddy, Rebecca jumped into action. She didn’t just send someone, she showed up herself.
Getting him into the car was no small task. Teddy was a big fella, about 72 pounds. And since he had clearly been through a lot, Rebecca figured lifting him might make him uneasy.
But to her surprise, he stayed calm and sweet, even with a stranger helping him, as Rebecca shared in an interview:
“From the minute I picked him up he just kissed my face all over… He’s a big Teddy bear, his name really suits him.”

At the vet, Teddy charmed everyone. Despite limping and moving slowly, the kindness in his eyes never dimmed.
The rescuers thought Teddy might be dealing with arthritis, so they did an X-ray. What they found was heartbreaking.
Nearly 100 BB pellets were buried under his skin, especially in his head and legs.
Thankfully, none had harmed his eyes, which felt like a small miracle.

No one knew exactly who did this to Teddy. Maybe it was kids being cruel, or maybe it was an adult without a heart.
Whatever the reason, it was clear that this wasn’t a one-time thing. Poor Teddy had suffered more than once.
But the pain he endured didn’t change who he was inside. Somehow, he held onto his gentle spirit, as Rebecca shared:
“Despite his condition and someone who was very unkind to him once upon a time, he is just the most trusting and loving, sweet soul.”

Unfortunately, cases like this aren’t as rare as people might hope. The shelter sees plenty of animals arrive with pellet injuries, whether from BBs or birdshot.
When the pellets are causing pain or serious problems, the team removes them. But in Teddy’s case, they had been there so long that his wounds had already healed.
Teddy had learned to live with it. And now, life was finally starting to feel safe for him.
He soon moved into a loving foster home with two little human siblings to cuddle with, furry friends to nap beside, and a dog mom and dad who treated him like royalty.

We don’t know what happened next or where Teddy is now. But we like to imagine he found that perfect forever home.
A place where he can relax and be loved for the rest of his days.
And wherever he is, we hope he knows how many hearts he touched just by being his sweet, gentle self.
After everything he’s survived, this sweet old soul deserves nothing less than that fairytale ending.
