Couple Spots A Hole In Their Wall, And Suddenly A Twitchy Pink Nose Peeks Out

It was supposed to be a chill night at home. The couple had just kicked off their shoes, all set for a quiet, cozy evening.

But their dog had other plans. He was pacing and barking like something was seriously wrong.

At first, his humans thought maybe there was a bug crawling around somewhere, or even a rat sneaking through the house. They weren’t too worried at first, just curious and a little grossed out.

But the dog kept barking at the same exact spot at the ceiling. That’s when they finally paused the TV and really paid attention.

And there it was.

Near the top of their living room wall, close to the ceiling, a strange little hole had suddenly appeared in the plaster. It definitely hadn’t been there before.

They stared at it, puzzled, wondering when did that get there. And before they could even finish the thought, a small, twitchy pink nose peeked out.

Seconds later came a pair of beady eyes and the edge of a fluffy gray face. The wall wasn’t just damaged; it was suddenly alive, blinking back at them in wide‑eyed wonder.

It wasn’t a rat. Not even close. It was a brushtail possum!

A wild little marsupial with a curious look in her eyes, just peeking into their living room like she might be thinking about dropping by for snacks or a chat.

The couple’s first thought was that she must be stuck and scared. Wanting to help, they grabbed some tools and gently widened the hole. But their guest had other ideas.

She slipped out of reach and disappeared back inside the wall. She wasn’t trapped. She was just… exploring?

Still worried for her safety, the couple knew they needed help. So they reached out to Amy Wregg, a wildlife rescuer and vet nurse known for helping animals in tight spots.

As soon as Amy came over, she carefully cut open more of the wall, with the couple cheering her on. Their main concern wasn’t the mess or the damage, they just wanted to make sure the possum was okay, as Amy shared in an interview:

“They were definitely more worried about the possum’s welfare than the wall.”

And just like that, the possum made her move. She wriggled free and scampered up into the roof.

Eventually, she found her way back outside. There was no panic, no drama, just a quick goodbye from their unexpected guest.

Amy figured the possum might’ve smelled a bowl of fruit sitting nearby. With that sensitive little nose, who could blame her?

Once everything calmed down, the couple did a full check around the house. They patched up every hole, inside and out, to keep wild guests from popping in again.

But they didn’t stop there. They decided to give the possum a proper place to stay outside. They installed a cozy box in the yard, a safe little home for curious marsupials who just need a place to curl up.

Amy loved that idea. She always says if you don’t give possums somewhere else to go, they’ll just keep trying to come inside.

And honestly, can you blame them? It’s warm, it smells like fruit, and there’s a dog to play with. What more could a possum want?
