A routine home renovation in one North Carolina neighborhood turned into a nail-biting rescue when a curious cat got himself into serious trouble.
The Surf City Fire Department got a call unlike any other, not about a fire or medical emergency, but a trapped cat in desperate need of help.
The furry feline had somehow become stuck beneath a freshly remodeled shower, completely sealed in without anyone realizing it.
The homeowners, who had just finished updating their bathroom, began to panic when their beloved cat went missing.
What neither they nor the workers knew was that the adventurous kitty had slipped into the construction zone and crawled under the floorboards just before the area was sealed off.
By the time the renovation was complete, the cat was trapped inside, hidden from sight. The fire department shared the story on Facebook:
“We never know what kind of calls we will be paged out to. Sometimes our furry friends need our help. Yesterday 23-b shift responded to a cat sealed under the floorboards after a shower remodel.”
Hours passed, and the homeowners searched every corner of their house, but the cat was nowhere to be found.
Their worry turned into panic when they finally heard desperate meows coming from beneath the new shower. That’s when they called in the fire crew.
