Washington Foster Parents Stunned As Little Baby’s Fate Suddenly Changes Forever

Life is full of surprises, and sometimes those surprises come in the tiniest, most fragile packages.

For Abdul and Shamiyan Williams, who foster kittens in the Washington Metropolitan Area, one of those little packages arrived in the form of Mica—a newborn kitten who was barely two days old.

Picture this: smaller than a teacup, eyes still sealed shut, and with the faintest meows that could barely be heard, Mica was completely helpless. Alone, without his mom, he wouldn’t have lasted long out in the world.

But that’s when Abdul and Shamiyan, who already had a reputation for being incredible foster parents, stepped in.

Now, if you’ve ever cared for a newborn kitten, you know it’s no walk in the park. Forget eight hours of sleep—fostering a neonate means around-the-clock bottle feeding, endless check-ins, and a whole lot of patience.

Luckily, Abdul jokes that he’s a bit of a “kitten whisperer,” and he truly lives up to the title. For him, every late-night feeding is worth it because of the joy of watching the kittens thrive. As he explained in one of his posts:

“Mica is the youngest foster ever to join us! He’s also the most vulnerable. Being so young, without a mom, and a single kitten, is a tough way to start, but he’s a fighter. Just wanted to bring back up how important it is to spay and neuter your pets. Mica was lucky he was found so quickly; neonatal kittens can’t survive without their moms. And a special shout out to those of you doing TNR work. It’s such a critical part of the animal rescue system!”

From day one, Mica showed that fighter’s spirit. He latched onto the bottle like he’d been doing it forever, and pretty soon, he was packing on weight.

With every tiny squeak and every wobbly stretch, he made it clear he wasn’t just surviving—he was determined to live.

Before long, two weeks had flown by. His meows grew louder, his steps more confident, and his curiosity impossible to contain. Then came his “graduation day”—the moment he left the bottle behind and dove headfirst into wet food.

To no one’s surprise, Mica attacked his meals with gusto. Food, as Abdul quickly learned, was his one true love.

Videos of Mica sleepily being woken up for breakfast, then springing to life the second he smelled food, melted hearts online and spread like wildfire.

But as much as Mica adored mealtime, something was missing—companionship. Single kittens often struggle without a playmate, and Abdul knew Mica needed a buddy. That’s when Jack entered the scene, another foster kitten who quickly became Mica’s partner in crime.

Their first days together were cautious, but soon enough, they were snuggling, playing, and turning bath time into an adorable “double purrito” when wrapped up side by side in a blanket.

Of course, they had a mentor too. Queen Bambi, the Williams’ resident cat and proud foster fail, kept watch over the duo, making sure they were safe while joining in their fun now and then.

Months went by, full of milestones—vaccinations, neutering, and finally, the big day everyone both dreads and celebrates: adoption day

Saying goodbye was bittersweet for Abdul and Shamiyan, who had poured their hearts into raising Mica and Jack.

But the tears they shed were happy ones. Why? Because the best news of all came through—Mica and Jack had been adopted together into the same forever home.

The tiny kitten who once fit in the palm of a hand had grown into a lively, food-obsessed, joy-filled cat. And though Abdul and Shamiyan would miss him dearly, they knew their love and care had given him the future he deserved.
