Georgia Mechanic Hears Faint Cries Only To Find The Sweetest Little Face Stuck In A Car Engine

Mechanics deal with car problems every day, but for Sherwood Cooke Jr., owner of Royalty Auto Service in Georgia, this was a challenge unlike any other.
And it came with the most adorable surprise.
It all started when a local dealership called, asking him to check out a Mercedes-Benz. When he and his son took the car in, they had no idea what they were about to find.

As they began inspecting the vehicle, strange noises caught their attention: tiny meows.
Sherwood kept listening, expecting to hear something obvious, but he didn’t hear a thing. He thought it might be a prank. A Mercedes with a cat inside? Sure.
Seconds later, faint cries echoed from the engine bay, the very meowing sound the others had reported.

Determined to get to the bottom of it, Sherwood grabbed a flashlight and shone it into the engine compartment.
That’s when he saw it: a tiny gray face staring back at him, frozen with fear.
It was a little kitten, trapped under the hood, and nobody knew how long she had been stuck there.

She hissed at them, scared out of her tiny mind, but Sherwood and his son didn’t take it personally. Instead, they immediately got to work on a careful rescue.
Sherwood whispered as he tried to coax her out:
“Oh, you are in here. I do see you, and you’re in a bad spot. Oh, thank you for letting me hear you. I’d be scared, too.”

Because the kitten was wedged in a tight spot under the car, they had to push the vehicle into the garage and lift it to reach her safely.
Visibility was low, but Sherwood carefully slid his arm under the undercarriage. After a few tense moments, he finally grabbed her and eased her out to freedom.
The moment the tiny kitten was in his arms, Sherwood knew she was special.

He was completely smitten:
“Look at how pretty you are. A shop cat in the making.”
The rest of the shop fell for her, too, including their resident dog, Tink. Everyone agreed she belonged there, and Sherwood decided to give her a permanent place in the shop family.

Before settling in, he took the little gray furball to the vet. She received a full checkup, all necessary treatments, and a perfect name: Mercedes.
Once healthy, she returned to her new home at the shop, quickly adjusting to her surroundings.
It didn’t take long for Mercedes to make herself comfortable. Now, she is safe, loved, and cherished every day.
From being trapped and scared under a car to living in a warm home filled with people and pets who adore her, she lives the good life, just like she deserves.
