Ohio Woman Chooses Hope Over Euthanasia, Giving Paralyzed Cat A New Chance At Life
Simba’s journey began on a quiet beach, where a compassionate woman was feeding a group of stray cats. As she tended to a mother cat and her kittens, something caught her eye, a tiny kitten struggling on the sand.
This was no ordinary kitten. It was Simba, and the moment she saw him, she knew his struggle was something serious.

The road ahead was difficult, but Simba’s rescuer was determined. She took on the responsibility of helping Simba with basic care, including changing his diapers and emptying his bladder three times a day.
As difficult as it was, the woman knew she had to learn as much as possible to help Simba. She poured over videos, articles, and medical resources to understand feline paralysis better and ensure Simba had the best chance at recovery.
The advice from three different vets was conflicting, but she never lost hope. She knew Simba deserved a chance.
Simba was placed on a cortisone treatment, but while it helped him, it also harmed his kidneys.
After discussing it with the vets, she made the decision to stop the cortisone treatment, realizing that Simba’s quality of life was more important than simply trying to make him walk again.
After months of struggle, Simba began to improve. Although he still faced occasional illnesses due to his sensitive digestive system, he was doing much better.
The woman’s care and dedication were paying off, and Simba’s strength and bravery played a huge role in his recovery. He also benefited from the company of another rescue cat, which brought him comfort and companionship.
Simba adapted to life with a wheelchair, and it quickly became one of his favorite things. He loved the freedom it gave him, and his human loved seeing him so happy.
