Kitten Crushed By Mom During Birth Was Close To Being Euthanized But Then A Miracle Happened

Sharing is caring!

Not all purebred kittens are lucky enough to be born at reputable breeders. Unfortunately, many are born into the cruelty of backyard breeders or kitten mills, which mass-produce cats for sale.

These breeders often neglect the well-being of their cats; mother cats are usually caged, abused, and discarded once they can no longer produce kittens or be adopted.

Under these conditions, it’s common for kittens to be born with health problems, and such kittens are almost always euthanized.

Today’s story is about Thor, a purebred Savannah F4 kitten who was almost euthanized but managed to escape such fate thanks to kind strangers.

Thor was accidentally crushed by his mom during birth at a kitten mill, leaving him with a severe spinal injury.

Believing a ‘flawed’ kitten was of no value, Thor’s breeder contacted a local vet clinic to request euthanasia.

Thankfully, the vet didn’t share the same view. She saw potential beyond Thor’s disability, believing the adorable kitten deserved another chance at life.

She agreed to take Thor in, promising the little fighter he’d find a way to keep him alive.

The vet reached out to One Cat at a Time, a local animal rescue organization specializing in helping orphaned sick kittens.

After learning about the kitten’s plight, they agreed to take Thor in, promising to do everything possible to give him the best life.

From the moment he arrived at the rescue, Thor settled in comfortably, behaving like any playful, curious kitten.

After feeding him and arranging his bedding, One Cat at a Time scheduled an urgent appointment with Dr. Arburn, hoping she could assess his spinal injury.

One Cat at a Time wanted to know whether Thor’s spinal injury was treatable and whether it would have any lasting consequences on the quality of his life.

Unfortunately, Dr. Arburn’s verdict wasn’t as positive as they’d hoped.

Despite initial beliefs that Thor’s spinal injury was due to being crushed at birth, it turned out his condition was not orthopedic.

Instead, Thor suffered from a congenital spinal anomaly.

The good news was that the lower part of Thor’s spine was unaffected, allowing him to move and use his litter box independently.

The only issue was his somewhat ‘crooked’ walk, which the doctor expected to worsen with age. She recommended an osteopathic examination and the use of orthotics.

Thankfully, this didn’t stop little Thor in his tracks. He continued to grow bigger each day and eventually found his well-deserved happy ending.
