Hope For Paws, a non-profit rescue group based in Los Angeles, received a call about a homeless pregnant dog hiding in some nearby bushes.
The caller explained that the mama dog looked like she was about to give birth and urged them to come quickly and help her out.
Without hesitation, rescuer Loreta Frankonyte and her team rushed to the location – only to discover that the mama dog had already given birth to her puppies.
The brave mama was understandably cautious when she first spotted the rescuers, protectively guarding her puppies in a small, hidden spot among the bushes.
Loreta was determined to earn her trust, knowing it was the only way to safely help her and her babies.
Fortunately, the mama soon realized they meant no harm and began to relax.
Gently and patiently, Loreta picked up each puppy one by one, placing them on a soft comforter laid out on the ground.
Once all the pups were safe, she and her team carefully coaxed the mama out as well, making sure to check the bushes thoroughly for any puppies that might have been missed.
With six adorable pups and one brave mother in tow, the team headed to the vet, where the little family was greeted with warmth and care.
From The Streets To Safety: Their First Step Toward Healing
At the vet, the entire little family was thoroughly examined and happily declared to be in excellent health.
After her checkup, the mama dog got a warm, soothing bath to wash away the dirt and grime, helping her feel clean and comfortable for her pups.
She was then treated to a hearty meal and settled into a cozy enclosure with her babies, where they could all finally relax on a soft bed and feel safe.
The rescue team even gave them names to match their sunny new beginning – Mom was named Summer, and her puppies became Tanner, Diver, Surfer, Shelly, Sunny, and Sandy.
Perfect names for such a sweet little crew!
With everyone healthy and cared for, the next day, they were placed with a loving foster family to continue their journey toward a brighter, happier future.
