Ohio Family Brings Home A Tiny Kitten And Are Left Stunned When He Takes Control Of The House
When a family adopted a Maine Coon kitten named Butter, they hoped he would become friends with their dogs. Instead, this tiny feline became the undisputed boss of the household.
A Hopeful Addition
When a family decided to add a new pet to their home, they had a specific dream in mind. They already had dogs, including a husky who had always loved cats.
The pet parent hoped to find a feline companion who would not only tolerate the dogs but actively play with them and enjoy their company.
That’s when they found Butter, a fluffy Maine Coon kitten. There was an immediate connection, and the family knew right away that this little cat was special.
The Dog Of The Cat World
Maine Coons are often referred to as the “dogs of the cat world” due to their playful and sociable nature.
Knowing this, Butter’s new mom was incredibly optimistic. When she first brought the tiny kitten home, she was certain that he and the dogs were going to be fast friends.
However, reality quickly proved to be a bit more complicated than she had anticipated.
A Rocky Start

Even when Butter was distracted and playing, his fear of the dogs lingered.
His mom watched him play, only to see him suddenly realize he was near a dog. The moment it clicked in his mind, the tiny kitten would immediately take off running.

To help Butter feel more secure, the family decided to let interactions happen entirely on the kitten’s terms.
They would have the dogs stay calmly on a bed while allowing Butter to walk around the room freely.
This gave the kitten the space to observe the dogs without feeling pressured or cornered.
Planting Seeds Of Safety
Another crucial step in their bonding process involved shared cuddle time on the couch.
The family would invite Butter up onto the furniture with them while the dogs were also present.
They made sure to pet everybody at the same time, hoping to “plant those seeds in their brain that they’re safe” and loved together.
A Satisfying Shift
Slowly but surely, the gentle exposure and positive reinforcement began to work.
Watching Butter finally get used to his dog siblings, Bacon and Maple, was an incredibly satisfying experience for his mom.
The fear melted away, replaced by a surprising new dynamic that no one saw coming.
The Boss Of The House
Today, Butter is the smallest animal in the house, but he is undeniably the boss.
He completely runs the show with the dogs. If the dogs are simply lying down, Butter sees it as an opportunity to literally pounce on them.
He can often be found lounging on the dog beds, or playfully going after a dog’s tail.
A Favorite Hobby
Butter has developed a very specific strategy for interacting with his canine siblings.
He will slowly push their buttons, doing little things to annoy them until he gets the exact reaction he wants.
His mom jokes that annoying the dogs has become his absolute favorite hobby.
Shattering Stereotypes
Despite his mischievous behavior, Butter and the dogs have become incredibly close.
They are very cuddly together and are always ready to play. It has been super entertaining for the family to watch Butter become the “main character” of the household.
For this family, the stereotype that cats and dogs can’t be friends is 100% false; Butter and his dogs have simply become like siblings.
