North Carolina Residents Stunned To See Escaped Monkey Being Hit By A Car

Imagine driving along a familiar route, your mind focused on work, when suddenly a tiny, energetic monkey jumps across the power lines ahead.
For most people, it would be a complete shock – and that’s exactly what happened recently in Troutman, North Carolina.

The small capuchin, just five years old, had managed to escape from Zootastic, a local zoo in Iredell County.
Residents and passersby were stunned to see the little primate leaping from one power line to another, moving with agility that made it nearly impossible to catch.

The monkey’s daring escape quickly became the talk of the town, with locals both amused and concerned for its safety. As Iredell County Animal Services posted on their official Facebook page:
“Public Notice: Loose Capuchin Monkey in Troutman Area!

For several days, Zootastic staff and volunteers attempted to recapture the adventurous monkey, setting up nets and enclosures while tracking its movements through the area.
Despite their best efforts, the clever animal proved too quick, eluding capture at every turn. Concern grew as the monkey was spotted in increasingly dangerous areas, including streets and parking lots, where traffic posed a real threat.
However, a drastic turn of event happened just days after.

Animal control officers responded to reports of the monkey being struck by a vehicle in the Troutman area. Upon arrival, they found the monkey alive and promptly transported it back to Zootastic Park, where veterinarians immediately began treatment.
Thanks to the quick action of the animal officers, the sweet little monkey got a second chance at life. Now she is safe in her enclosure, with the rest of her monkey friends!
