Man Hears Frantic Screams From Tall Tree Sparking Heart-Stopping Rescue In Long Island
John Debacker, a devoted animal rescuer from Long Island, NYC, recently posted a video that spread rapidly online.
Well known for his commitment to saving cats, John is the kind of person who won’t hesitate to do whatever it takes to help animals in need.
When people find themselves facing difficult rescue situations, he’s often the one they turn to for help.
Such was the case with the kitten from today’s story, who ended up in a frightening predicament, crying loudly enough to alert a concerned neighbor.
The man ran outside as soon as he heard the kitten’s desperate meows, but he couldn’t locate the tiny feline.
Soon, he realized the sounds were coming from high above and understood that professional help was needed.
Perched more than 40 feet up in a tree, the little kitten was frozen with fear.
How he ended up there was a complete mystery to everyone involved, especially since the poor thing was barely three months old.
John Debacker responded to the call for help, arriving ready to rescue the frightened kitten.
However, when he set up his ladder, he quickly saw it wasn’t tall enough. Even after climbing up, the kitten remained just out of reach.
He brought some kitten food with him, hoping the smell of tuna would entice the tiny cat to jump.
But the kitten was still too scared, so John had to coax him gently.
Speaking softly and reassuringly, John encouraged the kitten, promising that everything would be okay.
The little cat hesitated to leap into John’s arms, and understandably so – there were still 17 feet between them, and it would take a lot of courage to make the jump.
Every second felt like an eternity as neighbors held their breath, hoping the tiny feline would find the bravery to trust him.
Finally, John’s patient words worked. In a split second, the kitten leapt right into his hand! The little furball clung tightly, as if he knew he was finally safe.
Relieved cheers erupted from the neighbors gathered around the tree, and the kitten was safely snuggled inside John’s sweater.
John then ensured the kitten, named Oakley, had a loving foster home to stay in until its forever family arrived. He truly is a hero, isn’t he?
Luckily for all of us, John captured the entire daring rescue on video and shared it on his Facebook page, where it racked up over 3,000 views and countless heartwarming comments.
