Recently, residents of a New York City building noticed an orange and white cat wandering around.
The cat seemed lost and confused, constantly trying to enter the building but without success. Moved by the cat’s plight, some residents fed him, but what they later discovered left everyone in awe.
The kind-hearted residents wanted to ensure the cat’s safety, so they reached out to an animal rescue organization, Little Wanderers NYC.
The organization instantly sprang into action and discovered that the cat’s name was Galante and that he had been living in the building.
Unfortunately, once he got out, his owner refused to let him back in. Little Wanderers NYC shared in an interview:
“This friendly cat (Galante), got out of a first-floor window. When he tried to return inside the apartment, his owner wouldn’t let him in. It turns out that Galante has been living as an indoor/outdoor cat for over a year. He’s had some hard times, but that will all change.”
The rescuers from Little Wanderers NYC knew they had to act fast. Galante was scared of strangers and constantly hid in the bushes, making the rescue mission more challenging.
But, the rescuers refused to give up. They set a humane trap with food and patiently waited for Galante to enter. He was clever and cautious, inspecting the trap several times. However, hunger finally drove him inside.
Once trapped, the rescuers secured Galante and gently transported him to the vet for the necessary care.
Poor Galante was scared until a loving couple, Shane and Becca, changed his fate. After learning about Galante’s story, they instantly offered to foster him. The moment they saw him, they fell in love.
Shane and Becca took Galante to their home and provided him with all the necessities. They gave him time and space to adjust to his new surroundings, and slowly Galante began coming out of his shell.
After weeks of hiding in the bushes and trying to return to his home, Galante was finally safe with a roof over his head, surrounded by lovely humans.
With a lot of love and care, Galante transformed from a scared and confused cat into a gentle and affectionate kitty who loves spending time with his new humans and resident cats. Becca shared:
“He is very affectionate and social and enjoys looking out the window. He likes other cats and is overall sweet, gentle, polite kitty who is insanely smart and responsive. He is so happy to be rescued. He will never want for a home ever again.”
After everything he had endured, especially being rejected by his owner, Galante is now a happy feline who doesn’t need to worry about anything, all thanks to the couple who stepped in and changed his fate.
