Having a cat is great until you remember your beloved feline friend won’t stay with you forever… That’s why I always try to enjoy every moment with my kitties.
Still, some cat parents are lucky to spend a long lifetime with their furry friends. One of those lucky owners is Michele Foster.
When Michele adopted a cat named Rubble, she had no idea she would be throwing a party for his 30th birthday.
Michele said:
“It was just before my 20th birthday when I got him. He was part of a cat litter that my sister’s friend had, and I had just left home. I was lonely living on my own, so I got him in as a kitten.”
According to the Vets of East Texas, an average house cat’s lifespan is between 13–17 years, while the average lifespan of outdoor cats is between 2–5 years because they’re prone to more danger.
But, it looks like Rubble is an exception… Nobody knows how he reached 30 years old. Michele believes it’s because he’s loved, pampered, and taken good care of.
Another reason for Rubble’s long lifespan is his relatively good health condition. He never really had any severe issues. However, he does have high blood pressure currently.
Dr. Shawn Moore of City Vets looks after Rubble’s health, and she said:
“He is on medication for his blood pressure, but apart from that, he is in remarkably good health.”
Michele is a proud parent of the oldest cat in the world. The Guinness Book Of World Records hasn’t confirmed it yet. But, Michele explains:
“He has plenty of life left in him yet, but I don’t think we will go down the Guinness World Record route, as I am not sure he would like lots of people coming to see him or a fuss being made out of him.”
Michele fears that Rubble wouldn’t like having lots of people come to see him all of a sudden. So, she doesn’t want to make a fuss out of him. She’s aware that he’s old now, and they would both prefer to let Rubble live out his last moments in peace.
I hope they get what they want and that the two of them will spend these moments in the best possible way.
I wish Rubble the happiest birthday ever and lots of love to him and his owner, who obviously took extraordinary care of him!
