It gained the affectionate personality of the Ragdoll and the chatty and playful personality of the Siamese. The result is a perfectly balanced and interesting feline, with a stunning appearance.

If you are interested in this Siamese Ragdoll mix, then check out these reasons and find out if this cat is your perfect match!

1. Their Appearance Is Stunning

Ragdoll and Siamese cats actually have several things in common; they’re both born completely white and start getting their color after 3-4 weeks of age. Another thing they share is a colorpoint pattern and deep blue eyes.

This hybrid cat is a medium to large-sized cat that can reach up to 20 pounds and a height of 8-12 inches. When you take a look at this stunning kitty you will notice a resemblance to both parent breeds – Siamese and Ragdoll.

The Ragamese cat inherits the beautiful and silky fur from the Ragdoll cat and a body structure that is more similar to that of the Siamese.

Their beautiful coat is often characterized by a colorpoint pattern in different colors, but the most common ones are the seal point and blue point.

2. They Have A Lovely Personality

For most people, Siamese cats are too demanding and chatty, while Ragdolls are too easy. Well, with this Ragdoll Siamese mix cat, so-called Ragamese, you can have a cat with all the best characteristics.

Therefore, a Ragamese cat will be playful, affectionate, and chatty like the Siamese breed. That means that they need a lot of exercise and playtime, and a lot of attention, as they can be very demanding.

If you neglect such a cat, it can have serious behavior issues that are harder to fix later. But, before that happens, your kitty will probably warn you.

Just like Siamese cats, Ragamese cats are also chatty and will probably let you know whenever they need something or when they’re not satisfied…

On the other hand, the Ragamese cats also inherited the easy-going and friendly personality of the Ragdoll breed. That means that these felines will adore cuddling with you, or snuggling in your lap seeking your attention.

There’s no doubt that Ragamese cats got the best of both worlds. However, you should remember that every cat, no matter the breed, needs to be trained and socialized properly from a young age.

In addition to that, you should know that Ragamese cats require lots of attention, therefore they shouldn’t be left alone for longer periods of time. If you’re a busy person, then this might not be your perfect match.

3. They’re Healthy, BUT…

When we take a look at Ragdoll and Siamese cat breeds separately, we can say that both of them are generally healthy breeds with long lifespans. However, just like every breed of cat, these two are prone to some health issues.

This mix of Ragamese is also considered very healthy, with an average lifespan of 15 years. However, they’re prone to some health issues that are characteristic of their parent breeds.

• Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) – according to the Cornell Feline Health Center, this issue refers to the thickening of the heart muscle, which may lead to compromised heart function.

This is a genetic disease that should be avoided. Because of that, newborn kittens are often tested for this and similar genetic diseases. The most common signs of HCM in cats are panting, weakness, and respiratory issues.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) – this condition is characteristic of many different cat breeds and needs to be treated right away in order to prevent it from spreading to other organs.

• Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) – this disease refers to the cysts on kidneys that grow in size and can end badly, according to the VCA Animal Hospitals. Cats who are prone to this issue are tested at a young age so that the condition can be detected on time.

• Obesity – Ragdolls are prone to obesity due to their relatively low energy levels, which makes Ragamese cats prone to obesity too, even though they’re more energetic than Ragdolls.

For that reason, it’s crucial to keep them fit and active and feed them top-quality food, as obesity often leads to serious health issues.

• Digestive issues – all long-haired cats, including the Ragamese, are prone to digestive issues due to excessive grooming and the formation of hairballs. If you want to prevent that from happening, then make sure you brush your cat regularly and feed it protein and fiber-rich food that is easily digestible.

• Eye issues – Siamese cats are prone to various eye conditions, which is another thing that Ragamese cats inherit from them. The most common conditions are cross-eyed condition, where both eyes are out of alignment, and cherry eye where the inner corner of the eye pops out.

These are only some of the issues that are characteristic of Ragamese cats. In fact, these are the most common ones. So, if you’d like to have a healthy and happy pet, then you should take your Ragamese kitty to regular vet checks and follow your vet’s instructions.

4. They Don’t Need A Lot Of Grooming

Ragamese cats shed moderately. They’re characterized by a thick double coat which means that they will shed more during the shedding season which happens in fall and spring.

In the meantime, you don’t have to worry about having a lot of hair in your environment. If you brush your kitty regularly you will reduce the amount of shedding and also reduce the risk of hairballs.

Besides regular brushing, pay attention to regular nail trimming and ear cleaning to avoid possible infections and keep your cat in good shape.

5. They’re Not Too Expensive

What’s great about getting a Siamese Ragdoll mix kitten is that you can check in several different places. You can check in adoption or rescue centers and get one for a very low price.

However, some breeders actually breed these kitties in order to get a perfectly balanced feline who’s not too lazy but not too energetic either. Therefore, you can check for Ragamese kittens for sale at reputable breeders and catteries.

If you’re buying from breeders or similar, you should know that the Siamese Ragdoll mix price goes around $600-$1000.

However, when you buy a kitten, the costs only continue to rise. Before you get a kitten you should invest in the essentials such as food and water bowls, a cat carrier, toys, a cat bed, cat food, a litter box, and litter, and don’t forget about the vet costs.

The costs will continue to grow as long as you have the cat. The bad thing is that the expenses may be even higher if your cat has certain health issues and needs vet help. Because of that, it’s always a good thing to invest in pet insurance.
