LA Cat Mom Shares Priceless Reaction Of Rescue Cat Receiving His Very First Kiss

One of the joys of being a cat parent is showering your little fluffball with kisses. For many of us, it’s the best part of the day, coming home, scooping up our pet, and covering their face with love, even if they’ve still got a little tuna breath.

Grace Choi, founder of The Happy Kitty Rescue, feels the same way. As a devoted rescuer, she’s cared for countless cats, but one recent foster named Mozart, Mozzy for short, was especially memorable.

Mozzy came into Grace’s care when a local shelter reached out about a young stray with a wobbly walk and chronic issues in his back legs.

The little tuxedo cat had survived outside despite his challenges, but he desperately needed a safe place to heal.

Grace couldn’t get him out of her mind. She agreed to foster him and immediately took him to the emergency vet for a checkup. While the doctor was pleased with his overall health, Mozzy’s mobility issues required further testing.

An orthopedic consultation revealed that his growth plates looked slightly irregular, but the bigger concern seemed neurological.

A neurologist later confirmed that Mozzy’s back legs weren’t communicating properly with his spinal cord. Possible causes ranged from trauma and nerve damage to congenital conditions, infections, or even cancer.

For Mozzy, this meant strict rest, limited activity, and lots of cuddle time with Grace.

During one of their early cuddle sessions, Grace decided to pour on the affection. On Instagram, she recalled:

“In the middle of our cuddle session I broke out into aggressive kisses, and sweet boy was very confused”

It was a funny but touching moment. Mozzy, who had spent much of his life as a stray, clearly wasn’t used to this kind of love. His big eyes widened, his ears tilted back into “airplane mode,” and he froze, unsure what was happening.

Grace captured the moment on video, and it quickly charmed people online:

Viewers couldn’t get enough of Mozzy’s bewildered expression. One person commented,

“He’s skeptical but he doesn’t hate it”

Another humorously noted:

“The ears say no, but the body language says maybe”

Though Mozzy looked startled, Grace knew he wasn’t rejecting her affection, just trying to make sense of it. After all, no one had ever showered him with kisses before.

With each passing day, Mozzy began to settle into his new life. He learned the rhythm of foster care: meals, rest, medicine, and lots of gentle snuggles.

While he’s still adjusting to Grace’s enthusiastic displays of love, there’s no doubt he enjoys her company.

As Grace explained, Mozzy has shown resilience despite his physical challenges. He remains sweet, curious, and open to affection, even if kisses leave him puzzled for now.
