The perk of being a proud cat parent is the very fact that you can shower your little furball with kisses any time you like.
Honestly, that’s probably the highlight of my day. Once I come home from work, I immediately look for my fluff, ready to kiss her adorable face for hours!
And I don’t mind her stinky tuna breath at all!
Grace Choi, a fellow cat mom, skilled rescuer, and founder of The Happy Kitty Rescue in Los Angeles, loves showering her cats with kisses – just like I do.
However, one of her recent fosters was particularly stunned by her display of affection…
This lovely feline gentleman is Mozart – or Mozzy for short. He came into Grace’s life when a local shelter contacted her about a wobbly stray with a chronic injury to his hind limbs.
Unable to get him out of her mind, Grace decided to foster sweet Mozzy and help him have a fulfilling feline life.
She immediately took him to the ER to consult a doctor about his condition.
The doctor was overall pleased with Mozzy’s health but recommended an urgent consultation with an orthopedic surgeon for his hind legs.
The consultation with an orthopedic specialist revealed that while Mozzy’s growth plates showed minor irregularities, his issues likely stemmed from neurological abnormalities.
Consequently, Grace arranged a consultation with a neurologist, who identified a communication issue between Mozzy’s limbs and spinal cord.
Grace shared on her Instagram that this could be due to various factors, including trauma, nerve damage, fluid buildup, infection (such as FIP), inflammation, congenital conditions, or even cancer.
For Mozzy, this meant one thing – lots of rest and restricted movement, or in other words, plenty of cuddle sessions with his new mom, Grace.
During one of Grace and Mozzy’s first cuddle sessions, something incredible happened. As Grace wrote in her Instagram post:
“In the middle of our cuddle session I broke out into aggressive kisses, and sweet boy was very confused 😅”
As an ex-stray with no first-hand experience in the ‘being loved’ department, little Mozzy was bewildered by his mom’s sudden display of love.
Mozzy’s confusion led to a hilarious moment captured in a video that quickly stole the hearts of many people online:
As you can see in the video, sweet Mozzy clearly has no clue what’s going on.
He just stares at Grace, silent and motionless, with his ears in ‘airplane mode’ – a definite indicator that he’s a bit scared.
But I wouldn’t say Mozzy entirely disliked the attention; he was just confused. One viewer’s comment under this video summed up his reaction purrfectly:
“He’s skeptical but he doesn’t hate it 😭✨🤭”
Another humorously noted:
“The ears say no, but the body language says maybe 😂”
With more time and cuddles, Mozzy will surely grow to love these affectionate moments. You know what they say – practice makes perfect!
Here’s to sweet Mozzy and his speedy recovery. We all hope he gets to live a long and happy feline life!
