People often say that one good action can lead to another. For Marlene and her team of rescuers, this saying turned out to be very true.
What started as a simple rescue mission at an abandoned place took a surprising twist, revealing a sad story of neglect and survival.
One day, they received a call about a cat in trouble. Knowing they had to help, Marlene and her crew entered the rundown property. However, their mission was far from over.
As they moved through the crumbling building, they discovered something heartbreaking: a group of cats fighting to stay alive in terrible conditions.
Without hesitation, the choice was obvious: every cat deserved a chance. So, they quickly set up humane traps, promising a safe escape for the scared kitties.
The rescuers worked hard to ensure that all the cats would be rescued, making sure none were left behind.
Ultimately, that day, seven cats were rescued, including a very pregnant mom named Pickle. Pickle’s story, however, was especially touching.
She was discovered in the middle of the chaos while Marlene was busy rescuing two other cats, as Marlene shared in an interview:
“I didn’t know she was there. I was lucky enough to just put her in a carrier. She’s friendly, a little scared, and very hungry.”
You could see Pickle’s strong motherly instincts as she held onto her oldest kitten, Fisher, showing the deep connection between them. Soon, her family would grow even bigger, as she was about to have five more kittens.
Fortunately, with Marlene and her team keeping a close watch, Pickle was able to have her kittens in a safe and loving place.
Fisher, one of the young cats, was probably the first kitten born to Pickle. He stayed close to her while she got ready to have her babies. He was right there until she had her last litter of five kittens.
The little kittens, who were blind and needed help, relied completely on their mom for everything.
With a little help from his foster mom, Fisher teamed up with his best buddy, Norman, so Mama Pickle could focus on taking care of her new kittens and giving them the space they needed to grow.
As soon as the little creatures started to meow, they weren’t shy about asking for attention, which kept their mom busy all the time.
They were playful, curious, and full of energy, bringing so much happiness to their foster home. Pickle, being a caring mom, taught her kittens important skills they would need to survive.
As for Marlene, she made things even better by giving the family a big playpen where the kittens could run around and practice walking. She mentioned:
“Pickle has been amazing from the start, allowing me to weigh her babies each day and giving me permission to give them lots of human contact.”
Each day, the kittens got stronger and more energetic. They loved exploring their new world, leading them to all sorts of fun adventures.
Fisher and Norman were recently adopted together and are now enjoying a happy life in a caring home. And Pickle and her kittens are doing great in foster care.
Once the kittens are ready to be on their own, Pickle will get to enjoy her time as the little queen she is, finally getting all the attention she deserves.
Because of the amazing rescuers, 12 cats and kittens are getting a new beginning. Marlene and her team worked really hard to change the lives of these twelve cats, allowing them to have another shot at a joyful and healthy life.
