Ohio Woman Notices Her Service Dog Oddly Staring At Her, Then Realizes The Shocking Reason Why

Sweet service dog

I always say that dogs are more than just pets. They’re also our guardians and protectors in every possible way.

Take service dogs, for example. They are the perfect example of how dogs can be incredibly helpful in our lives, showing just how smart and sensitive they are.

Thanks to their remarkable senses and intelligence, they can detect almost anything, just like this adorable dog named Kona.

When his family from Ohio adopted him, it was for a surprising reason… Let’s see why!

Kona isn’t just any dog. He is a very smart dog who was trained to detect blood sugar levels. But aside from that, he is also very disciplined and gets along with everyone.

When the Berce family found out their daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just six years old, they knew they needed help.

That was when they learned about Kona. Without hesitation, they adopted Kona so he could warn them if the daughter’s blood sugar level got too low or too high.

Kona quickly became a perfect addition to the family. He settled in and started watching over Lindsey’s daughter, even though it wasn’t always necessary.

Usually, when her blood sugar level was too high or too low, he would warn them by placing a paw on her leg.

However, one day, Kona did something unusual. He went to Lindsey and started staring at her. For a moment, she was confused by his behavior, but soon she realized what was going on.

Her daughter’s blood sugar level was changing, but no one had seen Kona place his paw on Lindsey’s leg.

So, he went to Lindsey, stared at her, and waited for her response. Fortunately, nothing serious happened at that exact moment, but the family was happy to see how Kona took his job seriously.

Even though Lindsey’s daughter wears a glucose monitor that displays all the necessary information, Kona proved to be a lot faster than the machine.

The family couldn’t be more grateful for Kona in their lives, so they decided to share how helpful it is to have a service dog in situations like this with the rest of the world.

Lindsey shared a video of Kona staring at her and urging her to follow him to her daughter. Once he was sure that Lindsey was paying attention, he gently put his paw on the daughter’s leg.

He does this whenever the daughter’s blood sugar level is below 75 and above 145. Lindsey checked on the glucose monitor, which showed the blood sugar level was 90.

However, after measuring it manually, it turned out to be 73, meaning Kona had beaten the technology once again.

The video quickly gained over a million views, and the people couldn’t stop commenting. One person commented:

“I’m a T!, and this just blows my mind. I had a really bad low one time and my cat appeared and sat right in my face until it came back up.”

Another person asked:

“Has Kona ever detected another diabetic with low blood sugar?”

Lindsey gladly responded that Kona is indeed capable of that and has done so a few times.
