Meet Spring, The Washington DC Kitten With Unique Eyes That Will Melt Your Heart
There’s something truly magical about watching a kitten grow, but few things capture that magic quite like their eyes.
Every kitten is born with soft, baby-blue eyes that slowly start to change as they get older. Most settle into a single color, but some, like Spring, have a surprise in store.
Spring’s eyes are impossible to ignore: one a dazzling blue, the other a vivid green. The mismatched gaze isn’t just beautiful; it’s unforgettable.
And thanks to those striking eyes, this tiny kitten has captured hearts around the world, turning her into an internet sensation almost overnight.
Spring’s unusual look first caught attention when her foster dad, Abdul, shared her photos on his Instagram account, Abdul’s Cats.
Along with her three siblings Winter, Summer, and Autumn, Spring was rescued when she was just a week old. The kittens were found in the rain beside their young mother, Trixie, who was barely a year old herself and dangerously underweight.
The little family was brought to a local shelter where Trixie received immediate medical care before being reunited with her babies.
Once they were all safe, Abdul took them in to foster. With warmth, regular meals, and love, the once-struggling family started to thrive.
As the kittens grew stronger, something about Spring began to stand out. Around six weeks old, her eyes started changing and unlike her siblings, her transformation didn’t stop at one color. One eye turned a rich green, while the other stayed a sparkling blue.
When Abdul posted her photo, the internet fell instantly in love. Fans flooded the comments to celebrate her rare beauty, calling her “the definition of perfection” and joking that her name fit her vibrant look — green like grass and blue like the spring sky.
Out of the four “Seasons” kittens, Spring was the only one with heterochromia, the scientific term for animals with two different-colored eyes. It suited her perfectly and gave her an extra touch of charm that set her apart.
Like every foster parent, Abdul eventually faced the bittersweet moment of saying goodbye. Once the kittens were old enough and fully healthy, it was time for each of them to find their forever homes.
Two of the siblings, Winter and Autumn, were adopted together into the same loving household, while Spring and Summer went to different families.
Though parting with them was emotional, Abdul was overjoyed knowing each kitten had found a family that would love them as much as he did.
