Ohio Rescue Team Races To Save A Tiny Kitten Shoved Through A Mailbox
Brad Adams had seen plenty of difficult rescues during his time with the Fayette Regional Humane Society, but one urgent call brought him face-to-face with a situation unlike anything he’d ever encountered.
Someone had forced a tiny kitten through the narrow slot of a mailbox in Clarksburg, Ohio, leaving the helpless little cat trapped inside with no way out.
The rescue began when a sheriff’s deputy contacted the humane society after postal workers made the shocking discovery. Hearing faint cries coming from the mailbox, they realized a frightened kitten was wedged deep inside.
Knowing one wrong move could injure the tiny animal, they immediately called for help, hoping rescuers could free the kitten before it was too late.
Brad, always ready to step in for animals in need, rushed to the scene, his thoughts racing with concern for the scared little kitten.
The drive felt longer as he imagined the confusion and fear the tiny feline must have felt.
When he arrived, the worried postal workers who had found and cared for the kitten greeted him. Brad remarked:
“I’m sure it was a bit of a shock to hear meowing coming from the mailbox. I’ve seen kittens stuck in many places, but this was new for me!”
Luckily, the kitten was unharmed, though still a bit frightened.
The shelter team took him in immediately and lovingly named him Special Delivery, honoring his unusual and memorable entrance.
The shelter gave him all the care and love he needed, helping him leave his frightening experience behind.
Reflecting on how quickly the tiny kitten went from a scary trap to a safe and loving environment, they shared in a Facebook post:
“Special Delivery is about 10 weeks old. Despite the unusual circumstances of his rescue, he is enjoying his status as the center of attention and has stolen the hearts of the staff.”
It didn’t take long for Special Delivery to show his sweet, affectionate side. He meowed for cuddles and eagerly approached anyone who came near. Brad shared:
“We can only imagine how scared he must have been, trapped alone in that dark mailbox. But Special Delivery has a bright future ahead. He already meows for attention and wants to be picked up and cuddled by everyone who passes by.”
The Humane Society posted Special Delivery’s story on Facebook, touching countless hearts with his frightening yet uplifting journey.
They shared that he would soon be ready for adoption and expressed their hope that a kind-hearted person would give him the loving forever home he deserves.
It’s truly shocking to imagine that someone could push a tiny kitten through a mail slot, leaving him trapped and alone.
But thanks to the shelter’s care and dedication, Special Delivery now has a real chance at a safe, happy life, far away from the danger and neglect he once faced.
