Just when I think I’ve seen it all, humanity’s capacity for cruelty surprises me again. Abandoning animals is heartless enough, but leaving them trapped in boxes to face their end is unspeakably cruel.
This ginger cat’s fate could have been just as grim if not for a twist of fate.
One afternoon, a homeowner noticed someone throw something over his fence. By the time he reached the fence, the person was gone, but a taped-up pet carrier lay before him.
The homeowner had no idea why someone would toss a pet carrier into someone’s yard, but after opening it, he was left in awe!
An orange cat was peeking from inside the pet carrier, desperately waiting for someone to set him free.
The homeowner wasted no time and rushed the cat to the vet. As reported by The Dodo, Michael Harrington, an animal rescue officer shared:
“The carrier had been taped up and wrapped in a bin bag, and inside the carrier was a bag for life with the cat hiding underneath the bag. The kind member of the public took him straight to the vet, where he had a full checkover. Thankfully, he doesn’t have any injuries.”
Although physically unharmed, the cat was visibly stressed after what he had experienced. The vets said the cat was healthy but needed time and space to recover from such a traumatic event.
Unfortunately, the cat wasn’t microchipped, complicating efforts to track down the person responsible. However, the rescue organization refused to give up on finding the main culprit and bringing justice for the ginger cat.
Meanwhile, the cat was placed in a loving foster home, providing him the peace and care needed to heal and begin trusting humans again.
Slowly but surely, the cat began showing progress and filling his foster home with loving purrs.
It’s heartbreaking to think that someone can do such a thing to an animal. Yet, there’s solace in knowing this cat found himself at the right place and time, leading to his well-deserved second chance at life.
