Cat Owner Drops $400 On A Vet Visit And You Won’t Believe What’s Wrong With Her Kitty

Sharing is caring!

When the holidays arrive, homes everywhere turn into winter wonderlands, full of twinkling lights, festive ornaments, and, of course, Christmas trees.

For many, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, but for one cat owner, the season came with more than just tinsel and joy – it brought an unforgettable adventure she never saw coming.

Let’s hear all about it!

A TikTok user known as @viasxwurld was ready to embrace the holiday cheer with her Christmas tree twinkling in her room.

But she wasn’t the only one captivated by its festive glow as her curious cat, Makoto, had his eyes on the tree too.

Like many pet owners, Makoto’s mom knew the risks that holiday trees pose to curious cats.

Fir, spruce, and pine, which are the most common choices for Christmas trees, might look innocent, but they can cause serious issues for our feline friends.

Even a small nibble could lead to mouth irritation, upset stomachs, or worse. Some cases can involve punctures in the stomach lining or intestines.

That’s why the woman took extra precautions to keep him away from the Christmas tree. But even with the tree out of reach, something seemed off.

Makoto, who usually loved lounging and playing around the house, started acting differently. He became restless, licking his backside nonstop.

This immediately worried his owner, who shared in an interview:

“It was stressing him out terribly that I wouldn’t let him eat it. I noticed he wouldn’t stop licking his backside.“

As a seasoned cat parent, she knew any issues with urinary health could quickly turn dangerous, so she didn’t waste a moment getting Makoto checked out, adding:

“That raised a red flag to me on urinary issues since they can be super dangerous if untreated.”

After a thorough checkup at the vet and a hefty $400 bill, the truth came to light.

Makoto hadn’t touched the tree at all. Instead, the stress of being kept away from it had triggered his discomfort!

The poor little guy had worked himself into such a state that it caused urinary issues. Who knew a cat could hold such a grudge over a Christmas tree?

As Makoto sat proudly with his “certificate of bravery” after the appointment, it was hard not to smile. The $400 bill stung, but seeing him healthy and happy again made it all worth it for his mom.

Plus, the certificate felt like a sweet acknowledgment of everything Makoto had endured. His bravery – and his persistence – were undeniable.

Now on an expensive urinary diet to aid his recovery, Makoto seemed to enjoy the extra attention, even if he was probably still dreaming about that forbidden tree.

The TikTok video capturing Makoto’s adventure quickly went viral, racking up almost 900,000 views and thousands of comments! While many praised Makoto’s courage, others couldn’t resist poking fun at his dramatic antics.

Some shared stories of their own pets costing them hundreds just because of a little change in their routine or some extra stress, as one viewer commented:

“Spent $300 just to find out my cat was upset that we ran out of their dry food for ONE NIGHT.”

Another shared their own story:

“Mine just didn’t like my moms boyf (respectfully so) 800$ later tho…thanks buddy.”

Makoto’s story perfectly shows just how much we love our pets, even when they turn everything upside down. Because, at the end of the day, it’s not about the vet bills or the extra effort; but about the bond we share with them.

All those little moments, even the stressful ones, just make us love them more. They keep us on our toes, teach us patience, and definitely remind us to laugh at the chaos.

Makoto’s little adventure is also a good reminder for all pet owners to keep an eye on their furry friends.

Sure, the decorations are fun, but ensuring our pets are safe and happy matters even more, even if it means dealing with a bit of drama.
