Sweet Florida Pup With Massive Tumor Gets Life-Saving Surgery And Meets His Perfect Match

This enormous growth made up about 10 percent of King’s total body weight. It’s no wonder his head hung low, almost dragging on the ground.
The Humane Society noted on their Instagram that they couldn’t tell how long the tumor had been there, and just thinking about that makes you feel sad for all the pain King must have gone through:
“It was impossible to tell how long it had been left untreated. Despite this, King’s spirit was unbroken; even though he was uncomfortable and in pain, he had an inspiring, upbeat attitude and only wanted to be loved.”
But despite carrying such a heavy burden, King’s spirit was still shining bright. Even though he was likely in pain and clearly uncomfortable, he maintained what the shelter called an ‘inspiring, upbeat attitude’ and had just one wish: to be loved.
After finally arriving at HSP, King had a tough but successful surgery to remove a huge mass from his face.
The talented veterinarians at the shelter managed to carefully take out the tumor, and thankfully, the tests afterward showed it was benign. What a huge relief!
It must have felt like King finally got rid of a heavy burden, both physically and emotionally. Now, with that massive growth gone, King was ready to start his heartworm treatment, which was another step on his road to recovery.

Apparently, one day, an HSP staff member took King for a walk outside, and they happened to pass by the construction site where workers were busy building HSP’s new Sjouwerman Adoption Center.
One of the construction workers noticed King walking by, and it was like love at first sight! Then, fate, as it often does, stepped in.
When a storm rolled through the Clearwater area, this thoughtful construction worker reached out to HSP and asked if he could foster King during the storm.
He didn’t want the sweet pup to have to ride out the bad weather all alone in the shelter. And you know what happens when you foster a dog… You often end up falling head over heels! As the HSP mentioned:
“He fell in love with him and fate stepped in and King was adopted by this amazing man. Congrats to King and his furever family!”
