Terrified Cat Pulled From Gas Station Freezer In Ohio After Chilling Ordeal
In the stillness of the early morning, a Youngstown Police Officer received a call that was anything but ordinary—someone had spotted a cat locked inside a commercial freezer behind a gas station.
Without hesitation, the officer reached out to Animal Charity of Ohio for help.

When the humane agents arrived, the sight before them was heartbreaking. Inside the freezer, curled up and trembling, was a black-and-white cat fighting for her life.
She had no way out and had been left to freeze in the dark. The rescuers carefully lifted her out and rushed her to safety.

Back at the Animal Charity center, the little cat finally felt warmth again—this time from the blankets wrapped around her and the gentle hands of her rescuers.
They named her Kali, and she quickly began soaking up the love and comfort that had been missing from her life. The organization later shared that she is now “receiving lots of love and care,” and it’s clear she’s clinging tightly to her second chance.

But Kali’s story wasn’t the only tragedy the team uncovered. Soon after, they realized she shared a heartbreaking link with another animal already in their care—a dog named Koda.
Koda’s ordeal was even more shocking. She had been cruelly shot in the neck, left paralyzed, and abandoned without any medical help.

By the time humane agents found her, she was barely holding on. She needed emergency hospitalization, multiple tests, and weeks of intensive care.
However, despite everything that had happened, her spirit was unbroken.

With time, therapy, and the dedication of her foster family, Koda began to amaze everyone with her progress. Once unable to move, she can now lift her head proudly, balance on her back legs, and even run again. Watching her regain her strength has been nothing short of inspiring.
Animal Charity spoke openly about the seriousness of both rescues in an interview, saying:
“The investigation is looking into the fact that the animal was put into the freezer and abandoned there and also the safety aspect of an animal being shot and then not subsequently receiving veterinary care.”

The organization is now pushing for the owner of both animals to face criminal charges, hoping justice will be served for Kali and Koda.
Koda’s recovery has also come with an enormous financial burden. Animal Charity shared that they’ve already spent $15,000 to save her life, and they continue to ask for donations to help cover the cost of her care.

For both Kali and Koda, the road has been filled with pain and uncertainty. But today, thanks to the compassion of their rescuers and the love of their fosters, they finally have what they always deserved: safety, comfort, and the chance to heal.
