Virginia Shelter Dog Gets Saved From Euthanasia And What He Does Next Is Incredible

For months, Dharma Lorenz had been helping out at the shelter, and there was one dog who caught her eye: a sweet, deaf pup named Satchi. 

Over eight months, she had come to know his shy nature, his little habits, and the way he watched the world. She had grown attached without even realizing it.

Then came the news that made her heart sink: Satchi only had 24 hours left. The shelter was full, and he was on the list for euthanasia.

Just thinking about it made Dharma’s stomach twist.

Satchi had already faced enough. He deserved more than a cold kennel and a name on a list. Dharma grabbed her keys and rushed for him, sharing in a YouTube video:

“I raced out of work to get him.”

When she arrived, Satchi was understandably nervous. Being lifted into a car must have been confusing for him, probably wondering why his world had shifted yet again.

But the moment he arrived at Dharma’s home, something incredible happened.

For the first time, Satchi seemed to realize he was safe. He belonged. He ran, jumped, and spun around the living room as if he were flying.

Dharma was confused and overjoyed at the same time, sharing:

“He started flying and he could just never stop. It’s like his body can’t contain the joy.”

That night, Satchi fell asleep with the biggest, happiest smile.

Deaf dogs often struggle to truly relax unless they feel completely safe, and now he finally did. Dharma explained:

“Deaf dogs, especially Sachi, unless they feel really safe, he does not go to sleep easily. When they feel safe like that, and you can watch that, I mean, selfishly, it’s the best feeling in the world.”

Satchi quickly became part of Dharma’s family of deaf rescue dogs, with Nollie in particular welcoming him wholeheartedly.

Soon, Sachi and Nollie became inseparable.

Watching them interact was like seeing an unspoken language at work. They communicated through energy, body language, and subtle gestures.

Satchi instantly fit in as if he had always been part of this family. Dharma shared:

“They definitely understand each other to another degree.”

Now, Satchi enjoys trips to the beach, training sessions, and all kinds of adventures. But nothing makes him happier than his favorite pastime: “flying.”

He’s finally learned what it feels like to be wanted, understood, and loved completely.

Watching him leap and spin brings the same joy to Dharma and her family, as she shared:

“No matter how much he flies, it always brings a smile to our faces.”

Satchi’s story shows that every dog deserves the chance to feel safe and cherished, and when they finally do, the happiness they return is endless.
