Florida Vet Can’t Stop Laughing After Discovering Where Woman’s Missing Ring Really Went
Imagine realizing your engagement ring is missing and your dog might be the one who swallowed it.
That’s exactly the rollercoaster one Florida woman found herself on, and honestly, her story could be straight out of a comedy movie.
It all started like any ordinary day. Smokey, her big, goofy, and totally lovable dog, was hanging around the house while his mom went about her morning.
At some point, she noticed her engagement ring wasn’t on her finger. She checked the kitchen, the sink, the bathroom, every surface she’d walked past that morning… nothing. The ring had vanished.

That’s when she noticed Smokey sitting there with that classic guilty-but-cute look dogs do so well. And that’s when the wild thought crossed her mind: could Smokey have eaten it?
It sounded ridiculous, but anyone who’s ever had a dog knows… nothing is off-limits to them.
So, she grabbed her phone and messaged her friend Julie, who happens to be a veterinarian and the owner of Kind Animal Care in Spring Hill, Florida.
Julie knew Smokey well, and when she heard what might’ve happened, she couldn’t help but burst into laughter, as she shared in an interview:
“I was in stitches, crying thinking about Smokey eating her ring right off the table.”

Over the years, she’d treated dogs who’d eaten socks, tennis balls, and rocks, but never something as valuable (or sparkly) as an engagement ring. Still, they had to find out for sure.
Smokey was brought to the clinic, completely unaware of all the drama he’d caused. The moment Julie looked at the X-ray screen, she nearly fell over laughing.
There it was, sitting neatly in Smokey’s stomach, a shiny little ring!
Everyone was relieved to know where the missing treasure was, but now came the challenge: getting it back. Julie tried everything and even kept Smokey overnight for monitoring, sharing:
“Smokey’s mom was a trooper and let us do what we needed to to try and retrieve the ring.”

But that ring wasn’t going anywhere.
When Smokey came back home, he just lounged on the couch, looking like he didn’t have a care in the world.
His mom, meanwhile, was half-worried and half-laughing at how ridiculous the whole thing was.
Smokey was fine, thankfully, but the thought of her engagement ring sitting inside her dog for days? That was something she’d never forget.
After about a week of waiting (and many hopeful potty breaks), the miracle finally happened: Smokey passed the ring!

His mom couldn’t believe it. She retrieved the little treasure, gave it a very thorough cleaning, and slipped it right back onto her finger.
And she probably vowed never to leave it unattended again.
As for Smokey, he got an extra treat and a whole lot of belly rubs for being such a good boy, even if he had no idea what all the fuss was about.
These days, he’s back to eating the right kind of snacks, and his mom keeps her jewelry safely out of his paw’s reach.
