One cat has proven that it’s not just dogs who earn the title of “man’s best friend” and she’s a living proof that cats can be heroes too.
That cat is Willow.
Amanda Jameson, Willow’s owner, is an elderly woman living with diabetes. Recently, she faced a life-threatening crisis, but thankfully, her vigilant cat sensed that something was off and rushed to save her.
Let me share their incredible story.
One night, Amanda found herself in a perilous situation. As she drifted into a deep sleep, her blood sugar dropped dangerously low, putting her life in jeopardy.
Willow noticed that something was seriously wrong and sprang into action. Her sharp instincts kicked in, urging her to do something.
While Amanda was lost in her slumber, Willow had her own mission. She raced to find Amanda’s partner, Ray Sherwood, who fell asleep on the couch after watching TV, unaware of the emergency.
Willow wasn’t sure how to inform Ray that something was happening to Amanda, so she nibbled at his legs, determined to get him up.
Still astonished by Willow’s behavior, Ray shared in an interview:
“I was woken by Willow biting at my legs and jumping at me. It was very out of character for her and made me get up to see what all the fuss was about… I followed her up the stairs and she kept looking back at me to make sure I was coming.”
Trusting her instincts, Ray followed Willow up the stairs. He had no idea he was about to discover something terrifying.
As he reached the bedroom, he found Amanda slumped over, unresponsive, and in need of urgent help. Panic hit him and he quickly called for an ambulance, praying they would make it in time.
When Amanda reached the hospital, doctors revealed the grim truth: she was on the brink of a diabetic coma, a condition that could have had dire consequences. Yet, thanks to Willow’s bravery and quick thinking, Amanda was saved just in time.
Now that she’s back home to recover, Amanda has noticed a change in Willow’s behavior. It seems the ordeal has deepened their bond in an extraordinary way, as she explained:
“Since I came home from the hospital, she has become very protective of me. I’ve noticed how she puts her nose to my mouth a lot. I think she’s checking I’m breathing.”
It’s such a sweet way for Willow to show her love and concern for her human.
Cats truly have an incredible intuition about us and can sense when we need them most. It’s like they possess a sixth sense for our emotions, proving that their companionship is a true gift!
