Pittsburgh Man Finds His Cats Sleeping In The Strangest Spot And He Knows Just What To Do

Sharing is caring!

Chris Thomas, a proud ‘single dad to a house full of whiskers and paws, had barely unpacked in his new Pittsburgh home when he realized he wasn’t the one in charge.

His eight cats had already claimed the place as their own, and now, they had their sights set on a very specific spot: a kitchen cupboard.

Instead of fighting it, Chris did what any devoted cat parent would do: he started planning a full-scale home renovation just for them.

Chris’ family includes eight cats and Freya, his beloved three-legged dog. Funny enough, he hadn’t even planned on having one cat, let alone eight.

That changed the day a pregnant stray, Frances, wandered onto his property. He took her in, and before he knew it, he was caring for her entire litter.

That was years ago, and now, those tiny kittens had grown into full-sized, mischievous adult cats who had taken over his home, quite literally.

If you ask anyone who owns – or rather, faithfully serves – their feline overlord who really runs the household, the answer is obvious: the cat. Now imagine that times eight.

Chris has fully accepted his role as their human butler, and when he moved into his new house, his cats picked their favorite spot: a high-up cupboard above the fridge.

They squeezed into the space like little balls of fur, soaking up the warmth and turning it into their cozy hideaway.

At first, Chris found it hilarious. His cats had dozens of comfy beds, yet they chose to cram themselves into a cupboard. But soon, he realized they had a point.

The fridge kept the spot warm, and it was high enough that Freya couldn’t reach them. The perfect cat retreat. That’s when a wild idea popped into his head: what if he made it even better?

Instead of just one cupboard, what if he connected multiple cabinets to create a network of tunnels and hideouts? A full-on cat highway running along the upper walls of the house?

Chris shared his idea in a TikTok video, showing the furry ‘cuddle puddle’ inside the cupboard and asking in the caption:

“Am I crazy or is this a great idea?… My goal is to create a pathway along the entire upper walls of the house.”

The internet went crazy for it. Thousands of people loved the idea, flooding his comments with support.

Some cheered him on, encouraging him to go all out, while others joked that he should just hand over the entire house to his cats, as one person said:

“Why don’t you just give them the whole house and you move somewhere else?”

A few warned that if he actually put effort into the project, the cats would probably lose interest immediately. One person pointed out a similar opinion, sharing:

“They like it because it is a small space. If you make it larger they won’t like it anymore.”

What started as one stray cat wandering into his life had completely changed everything for Chris. Before Frances, he had struggled with depression, but now, his days are filled with the joy of caring for his furry crew.

He’s even started hosting cat product reviews and working on launching a free mobile vet clinic.

Looking back, Chris never expected to have a house full of cats or to be planning a renovation just for them, but he wouldn’t trade it for the world!
