Pittie Tied-Up In Ohio Woods Endures Days Of Suffering Before Someone Hears Her Pleas

Even on the toughest days, some dogs somehow manage to keep their hope alive. Cora, a young pittie in Cleveland, Ohio, showed exactly that.

She had been left tied to a fence in a small wooded area, hidden away behind trees and bushes, all alone and helpless.

But despite everything, her spirit didn’t break. And that hope is what saved her.

It was like someone had gone out of their way to make sure no one found her. Cars drove by, people walked past, and for three long, lonely days, no one noticed her.

The scared pittie sat there, stomach empty, tail tucked, still hoping someone she trusted would come back for her.

But dogs are amazing. Even in the darkest moments, they hold onto hope. And finally, Cora’s hope paid off when help arrived, and that moment completely changed her life.

Melina Russo, an animal control officer with Cleveland Animal Control, came across her. The instant Cora saw a friendly face, she exploded with joy.

She was practically bouncing in excitement as Melina shared in a YouTube video:

“I just took a few steps towards her, started talking baby talk, and she instantly got real wiggly, super happy. And I knew that I could approach her.”

It didn’t matter that she’d been abandoned or that she hadn’t eaten in days. In that moment, the only thing that mattered was that someone was finally there for her. Walking back to the truck was like a parade for Cora: pure happiness radiating from every wag and wiggle.

At the shelter, she continued to radiate that joy. She greeted everyone like they were lifelong friends and soaked up every bit of love she could get.

It was heartbreaking to think about how long she had been left alone, tied up in the bushes, when all she wanted was love. Melina shared:

“She was very polite, took treats very nicely. She just wanted to be around people and be loved.”

Two weeks later, that wish finally came true. A family came into the shelter and met her, and it was an instant connection, one of those rare moments where you just know.

They knew she was meant to be theirs, and Cora knew it too. Her new mom, Erin, shared:

“When she first came out, her tail was wagging and she immediately wanted pets, and I just knew she was ours.”

Now, she’s living her best life, spoiled with love, and showing off her goofy, sweet personality every single day.

Erin and her family couldn’t be happier to have her, as she said:

“We are so lucky to have her. I couldn’t imagine her not being part of our family.”

And I bet Cora wouldn’t trade it for anything either. From a lonely patch of woods to a warm, loving home, Cora’s story is a perfect example of what rescue is all about: second chances and love that grows stronger every single day.
