A Bleak Beginning
A tiny fox named Reef was born into a heartbreaking situation.
He came into the world on a fur farm, a place where wild animals face a deeply uncertain and grim future.
At just 10 days old, the helpless kit was far too young to understand the danger he was in.
But thankfully, fate had a much kinder plan in store for him.
The Cross-Country Rescue Mission
A dedicated animal lover learned about Reef’s situation and knew she had to intervene.
She immediately booked a flight to Minnesota to get the tiny, fragile baby out of harm’s way.
Once she had the 10-day-old fox safely in her care, they began a massive journey together.
She loaded him into her car and drove all the way back down to the Florida Keys.
Touching Down In Key Largo
The long road trip finally came to an end when they arrived in sunny Key Largo.
For the first time in his short life, Reef was in a safe, loving environment where he could just be a baby.
“As soon as his little paws touched Key Largo ground, he just made himself right at home,” his rescuer recalled.
It didn’t take long for the tiny fox to realize he was finally safe.
Finding His Voice
As Reef settled into his new life, his true personality began to shine through.
He started to really come out of his shell, exploring every corner of his new environment.
At first, he would just walk around making all sorts of cute little fox noises.

“The unique screaming is probably the biggest quirk that he has,” his mom explained.
If someone gets too close to him, or if his mom simply looks at him the wrong way, it will trigger a dramatic screaming session.
He quickly proved to be a very confident, stubborn, and highly opinionated young man.
A Bizarre Obsession
Beyond his vocal opinions, Reef developed a hilarious and completely unexpected habit inside the house.
Of all the comfortable spots to sleep, the wild animal became absolutely obsessed with the family refrigerator.
Whenever the door opened, he would hop inside and flatten himself down just to lay on the cold shelves.
“There’s no stopping him once he has his eyes set on something,” his mom laughed.
The Ultimate Drama King
Living with Reef is a constant source of entertainment, thanks to his larger-than-life personality.
His mom lovingly calls him the “drama king” because of how overly dramatic he can be about the smallest inconveniences.
Despite his wild antics and stubborn nature, Reef is surprisingly well-behaved and never destroys anything in the house.

“Not a day has gone by in the last three years where he hasn’t made me laugh,” his mom shared.
