The adoption rate of cats in shelters has increased over the years, but it is unfortunately still not enough.
Sadly, many people are not interested in adopting a feline companion, especially in adopting a senior kitty.
I think we can all agree that it is a shame because these cats have so much love to give. Young or old, our feline friends are full of love, ready to give it to their forever families.
Recently, a shelter cat named Monique had a really tough moment.
The shelter staff organized a lovely birthday party for her, hoping there would be people lining up for adoption.
However, to their dismay, not a single person came to adopt this angel of a cat. Can you believe that? How sad!
Fortunately, this sweet girl was clueless about the sad reality that no one came to her birthday party, wanting to give her the best gift any cat could ask for: A forever home!
Monique still had fun posing for pictures and getting lots of affection from the shelter staff who loved her dearly.
However, no adoption applications came in. It was simply heartbreaking…
One of her party pics went viral, giving hope that someone would eventually adopt her. One of the biggest concerns was Monique’s FIV condition.
FIV-infected cats can generally live long, happy lives, so it shouldn’t be a barrier to her adoption.
The owners just need to pay attention so that their cat does not encounter other cats and thus transmits the virus.
However, to everyone’s surprise, after celebrating her second birthday and 100 days at the shelter, Monique appeared on TV and in the newspapers, gathering a lot of fans!
Hope was still alive for Monique, and her luck was about to change.
One evening, while watching TV, Adnad saw Monique and instantly felt a connection.
He fell head over heels in love with her, knowing he had to do one thing: Provide her with a loving home and a wonderful life she deserved!
So, he contacted the shelter, informing them about his desire to adopt Monique. Long story short, here she is in her new home. Look how peaceful she looks!
When he arrived at the shelter, it felt like destiny! After spending some time together, Adnad shared with in an interview:
“She’s very talkative and greets me every morning and can be very bossy when she wants treats. She follows me around the house, pawing at me for scratches and giving me headbutts for cuddles.”
Although her second birthday passed without any guests, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise!
Adnan and Monique were definitely meant to be together, and I am so happy they have found one another! Now they both get to enjoy a happy life, being each other’s best pal!
