Ohio Cat Missing An Eye And Nostril Finds Home After Years Of Struggle

When Eggbert’s photo appeared on the adoption list at the Fairfield Area Humane Society in Lancaster, Ohio, it didn’t take long for him to capture hearts. 

Within just a day, this extraordinary tabby cat found himself a forever family ready to welcome him with open arms. And really, it’s no wonder—Eggbert’s charm and sweet personality practically radiate from every photo.

What makes Eggbert truly stand out is not only his affectionate nature but also his unique appearance. 

Born with just one eye and one nostril, he may look a little different, but his zest for life is undeniable. Watching Eggbert go about his days, you’d never guess he had any challenges at all—his joy is contagious.

So why did Eggbert find a home so quickly? The Fairfield shelter described him as nothing less than an “absolute angel of a kitty.” In a Facebook post that helped him go viral, they shared:

“He was born missing an eye and a nostril but aside from snoring like a chainsaw, it doesn’t slow him down a bit!”

The staff lovingly pointed out that Eggbert is an affectionate companion. He adores giving headbutts, enjoys chin scratches, and happily follows people around “like a baby duck.” His gentle spirit and quirky habits made him a shelter favorite.

While Eggbert had experienced some seizures before arriving at the shelter, under their care he has been seizure-free. 

The staff noted they would continue to watch over him and provide treatment for epilepsy if needed, ensuring that his new family would have plenty of support.

Eggbert’s happy ending came when Holly Starr spotted his photo online. For Holly, it was love at first sight. 

She had already adopted another cat named Lark from the same shelter and felt that Eggbert would be the perfect addition to her family.

Without hesitation, she called the shelter the very next morning and arranged to meet him. The moment they connected, it was clear Eggbert had found his place. The shelter announced the good news with delight:

“Talk about a head-turner! Update: Eggbert has been adopted!”

For Holly, adopting Eggbert wasn’t just about finding another pet. It was about giving a special-needs animal the love and security he deserved. As she explained:

“I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the animals with special needs, I want to make sure they have a loving home where they get all the attention they can handle.”

Now Eggbert not only has a forever family but also a new best friend in Lark. Together, the pair of rescue cats are thriving, surrounded by love and care.

The Fairfield Area Humane Society couldn’t be happier. They shared one final update:

“The update you’ve all been waiting for: Superstar Eggbert is off to his forever home! His new family has another FAHS alumni kitty at home, so we know Eggy is in the best hands. He couldn’t have found a better home! He is going to be loved and spoiled rotten. Thank you for choosing adoption again.”
