Not every puppy begins life in warmth and safety. Some start their journey in the cold, facing uncertainty from the very first moments.

That’s exactly what happened on a freezing New Year’s morning in Fort Worth, Texas. Eight tiny puppies were discovered struggling in the bitter cold. Their fragile bodies were barely holding on.

Matt McEntire is a dog lover who’s spent years helping pups escape terrible situations. He’s well known at the Humane Society of North Texas and is the kind of person whose heart leads him straight to those in need.

On that cold morning, while out walking his own dog, Dublin, Matt heard soft whimpers coming from inside a large trash can.

Many would have walked on by, but Matt couldn’t ignore the sound. He carefully lifted the lid and immediately felt his heart break.

Inside the can, eight tiny puppies were shivering and squeezed together.
