Stray Cat In New York Finds Comfort In Stranger’s Car And Won’t Let Go

What happened recently to Caitlin, a teacher and volunteer with Little Wanderers NYC, was far from what she expected.

One day, while driving home from school, Caitlin spotted a black and white cat stranded in the middle of the expressway, desperately searching for safety. 

She couldn’t believe her eyes and knew immediately that she had to help. After signaling to other drivers to slow down, she carefully pulled over, determined to rescue the cat.

A Surprising Rescue

Little did she know, the rescue would be easier than expected. Once the road cleared, Caitlin guided the cat into her car. To her surprise, the cat walked right in and leaned into her, almost as if it was thanking her for the help.

The cat, later named Hendricks, was a bit stressed from the experience, but after a few moments in the car with Caitlin, she began to relax.

A New Home

Hendricks spent some time exploring the car before settling into the driver’s seat and later curling up in Caitlin’s lap. Caitlin shared in an interview:

“Hendricks went into her car like she belonged there.”

Her heart melted as Hendricks snuggled into her arms. Caitlin immediately took the cat to the vet for a check-up and the necessary care.

A Mysterious Past

No one knew what Hendricks had gone through or how long she had been wandering the streets, but her injured paw pads were a clear sign that she had endured quite a bit.

Despite everything, Hendricks had a loving and friendly personality. The rescue team believed she had once been someone’s pet who had been abandoned.

There were signs: she didn’t run from Caitlin and was constantly seeking affection and attention.

The Road to Recovery

While Hendricks napped peacefully in Caitlin’s lap, Caitlin spoke with the director of Little Wanderers NYC. Fortunately, they agreed to take Hendricks in and give her a chance at a better life. 

This marked the beginning of her true transformation. Hendricks was fully vetted, spayed, and treated for her injuries.

A Forever Home

Thanks to the volunteers at the rescue, Hendricks was placed in a foster home where she finally had a warm, safe place to stay, along with plenty of food and fresh water.

While she was grateful to have found safety, there was still one thing missing: her forever family.

The rescue team made it their mission to find Hendricks the perfect home, where she would be loved and cared for. With her loving personality, it’s certain that it won’t be long before Hendricks steals someone’s heart and finds her happily ever after.

Until then, she’s living her best life in her foster home, enjoying belly rubs and all the affection she can handle.
