Two Sick Kittens Get The Sweetest Rescue When A New York Gamer Becomes Their Mom

Sometimes, life throws us a quest that’s way more meaningful than any video game level, and that’s exactly what happened to Vicki, a passionate gamer from New York.

One moment she was logging off from her stream, and the next, she was stepping into the real-life adventure of saving two tiny lives.

It all started one ordinary day when she spotted something small and moving in her backyard. At first, she thought it was just a shadow.

But when she got closer, her heart nearly broke. There, curled up in the grass, was a frail little kitten struggling to even open its eyes.

A few feet away, another one sneezed weakly. They were both covered in dirt, shivering, and their eyes were crusted shut.

They looked so helpless that Vicki couldn’t just walk away. She wasn’t a cat expert, but she knew something was seriously wrong.

So she scooped them up, wrapped them in a towel, and headed straight to the vet.

At the clinic, she learned the truth. Both kittens were fighting nasty infections. It would take antibiotics, constant cleaning, and a lot of love to bring them back to health.

Most people would’ve felt overwhelmed. But not Vicki. She decided right there that she wouldn’t give up on them.

Every single day, she cleaned their little eyes, gave them their meds, and whispered comforting words while they rested in her lap. Her nights were spent keeping an eye on them, sharing in a YouTube video:

“Every night I was cleaning their eyes, giving them antibiotics, and just making sure their eyes were clear of the gunk that they had.”

A week later, their eyes began to open wide and bright and their energy came rushing back.

They started running around, meowing for food, and exploring the house like two tiny adventurers.

Vicki couldn’t stop smiling, watching her babies winning their fight.

Originally, she hoped to reunite them with their mom, but the mama cat never returned. So Vicki looked at the pair and realized that she was their mom now.

She named them Apollo and Artemis, and from that moment on, they became her little gaming buddies.

During her livestreams, they’d climb on her desk, chase the mouse cursor, and sometimes even nap on the keyboard mid-game.

Her viewers adored it and honestly, so did she. She shared:

“I just figured they were going to be very involved in my life, so I want to share that with the community, as well.”

Her community loved watching not just her games, but the special bond growing between her and her kittens.

Now that Apollo and Artemis are all grown up, they’re still just as clingy. They know exactly when it’s game time, that’s their cue to join her, curling up beside her or pawing at her hand for attention.

Looking back, Vicki admits it was a lot of work: endless feedings, late-night check-ins, and worrying about every little sneeze. But she says it never really felt like work:

“Just constantly feeding them, making sure they were still breathing, but it didn’t feel like much work to me. Like, I woke up excited to see them.”

Honestly, I totally get her. Watching a tiny life transform because of your care? There’s nothing quite like it.

So yeah, Vicki may be known for her gaming streams, but in my book, she’s a real-life hero. And Apollo and Artemis? They’re her sweetest teammates yet.
