Washington Woman Finds A Kitten Left In A Box With An Alarming Plea Written On The Lid

Sharing is caring!

In Kirkland, WA, a woman was jogging with her dog when they had an unexpected encounter: a tiny kitten in a box with the most heartbreaking note written on the lid.

As they passed through an alley, the woman’s dog sniffed out a cardboard box. Curious, the woman approached and realized it was a makeshift shelter of a tiny kitten.

However, what caught her eye even more was the note scrawled in orange marker on the box’s lid, which made her heart sink.

Written seemingly by a child, the note told a heartbreaking story of mistreatment and the child’s plea for a safe home for the kitten:

“My mommy’s boyfriend is mean to me. desperet for loving home,” it read.

Moved by this touching plea, the woman took the little furball home and immediately scheduled a vet appointment for a thorough check-up. Thankfully, the vet confirmed the kitten was healthy despite her ordeal.

Still shaken, the woman then brought the kitten to Kirkland’s MEOW Cat Rescue, who welcomed her with open hands.

The rescue staff was both shocked and moved by the sad note accompanying the kitten, sharing in a Facebook post:

“We have more questions than answers, but are forever thankful for the bravery of the child who knew the kitten deserved better and the kindness of the woman who saved the kitten.”

The rescue ensured the kitten settled into a loving foster home with other kittens her age, where she could recover and thrive. Hopefully, she’ll soon be adopted into a forever home by someone who will cherish and treat her as she truly deserves.

Reflecting on the events, I am deeply moved by the courage of the child who spoke up, potentially saving the kitten’s life.

Yet, I’m concerned for their own safety, just like many other people who heard about this case, including the MEOW staff, who commented:

“Yes. This is the very same concern we have.”

The child’s brave act shows that even in tough circumstances, there is a way to make a difference and I really hope this courage will pave the way to their own safety and happiness.
